His name will now be breathed among the very biggest busts EVER!

He took $40 mil from Al Davis' pocket in the three years since he was the 1st overall pick, and is now littering the NFL's waiver wire.

Now... let the debate begin over who will be remembered as the Bigger Bust-- Russell or Ryan Leaf.

Sad day for Charger fans, JaMarcus was one of the better players on the field for us against the Faiders the last 3 years. He will be missed. :abq2:

It's a shame that this guy, and jerks like him, can walk away with millions and millions of dollars, basically 'stolen' from the team, and never have to look back or make good.

This new player's contract thing should definitely set automatic, sensible limits on what a rookie can earn in the first two years. Then, base his salary on performance.

what a shame.... even if it DID happen to the 'turds.

    What a lazy, loser, SOB.

    "Hello, Mr. Russell...?

We were wondering if you'd be interested in doing TV promos for our candies."

His jersey number now stands for his place on the list of biggest bust ever.

Sad to see him go, he was a great weapon for us.

The bigger bust is still Leaf by a long shot.

A long shot over the likes of Jamarcus Russell. That is how bad Leaf was.

Money-wise, Jafarcecus/Jafatcus wins. In all other categories, Leaf wins.

Two other teams, Dallas and Tampa, signed Leaf as a backup QB.

I don't see that happening with J-Bust.

Leaf unbeknown at the time was damaged goods. He had all the tools to be a great QB, just that loose connection between his ears held him back. Russell on the other hand, just never had nothing from day one. Either way, at the end of the day it don't mean anything.

JaMarcus only got paid more because he got drafted in 2006 as opposed to 1998.

    Inflation gave JaMarcus more money.

You don't get drafted 1st overall without having some amount of talent and promise.

    What about brains? :icon_rofl:

Russell couldn't read a defense in college and still can't do it.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_LSU_Tigers_football_team#Honors

JaMarcus Russell First-Team All-SEC (SEC Coaches, AP, ESPN.com)
SEC Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 30 vs. Mississippi State)
SEC Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 14 vs. Kentucky)
SEC Offensive Player of the Week (Nov. 4 vs. Tennessee)
    Sugar Bowl MVP
    Manning Award

    :icon_shrug:

You forget you're talking to an SEC fan here. Russell was pretty damn good in college.

Thankfully that didn't translate to the pros, largely in part due to his lack of a work ethic. (You can rely a lot more on pure talent in college than you can in the NFL)
