I dont know what you guys think, but this was just plain stupid for the Raiders to send him out there that far away. I was really hoping that Cro would have ran that one back for a TD.

I guess there are reports that he was hitting 70+ yarders in warm up before the game.

Still, very stupid. Cro is a dangerous person to be kicking a short field goal to.

I saw him hit a 60 yarder in warm-ups. Grid, please chime in, what did you see?

I thought that was a pretty stupid decision myself.

I would have said "go for a Hail Mary. If nobody is open just throw it a deep as possible and see what happens."

I'm betting Kiffin was saying "well, if I'm going to be fired, I might as well go down in the books for longest field goal try ever!" because you KNOW nobody will ever try that again!

I tell you what though, if anyone was going to make it, Janikowski's the guy. I'm a major Raider Hater, but I've got to give props to him.

The Lane Kiffin Death Watch Resumes

For the record, the Oakland Raiders attempted a 76-yard field goal on Sunday, and if that ain't a What-The-****-Do-I-Have-To-Lose-I'm-Toast-Anyway moment for their head coach, I don't know what is. Seventy-six yards. To paraphrase some politician, that's the longest Hail Mary in the history of football or Marys. In other words, expect Lane Kiffin to be stuffing Raider towels and assorted small toiletries into his suitcase as you read this; he's probably already fired. But you know what? It doesn't matter.

I attended the game and witnessed something I never thought I would. Me, wearing a 49ers hat, walking unmolested through the parking lot, past several tailgating Raiders fans who didn't even seem to notice. I even stopped and chatted with several notorious members of the Black Hole, who were actually courteous and polite. They offered me grilled sausages, and root beer. Root beer, not regular beer; or you know, heroin. Raider Nation seemed disconnected and listless. Costumes were slipshod, and taunting was non-existent. Even Gorrilla Rilla was absent, remaining in his RV listening to Frank Sinatra CDs until just before game time. And that was before Oakland's 28-18 loss to San Diego, in which the Raiders blew a 15-0 halftime lead. The Raiders, it should be noted, wore white uniforms at home for the first time ever. The Raiders in white! It's over; the heart has been ripped from this fan base, and that is sad indeed.

Of course it's nothing a five-game winning streak won't cure. But don't count on that, at least while Al Davis continues to suck blood from the living. Right now the big excitement is the speculation on who will replace Kiffin. The smart money has him being replaced today or tomorrow, this being the bye week. Ray Ratto of the San Francisco Chronicle lays odds on possible replacements today, with poor, unfortunate James Lofton leading the pack.

Don't do it, James! Run, while you still can!

Of course we could all wake up on Tuesday and find that Kiffin is still the coach. Anything is possible at this point. Did you know that those Raiders fans also offered me salad? With Honey Dijon dressing? It's over, man.

...I saw him kicking off in warm-ups from his thirty and hit one one straight through, thats 80 yards. Most of his other attempts came up short but all of them were in the end zone from his 30 in warm-ups, 70+ yards. His warm-up boomers must have enfluenced Kiffin on that crazy 76 yard attempt :icon_shrug:,

So, Mr. Kiffin... let me get this straight:

You WILL try an asinine attempt at a 76 yard field goal...

But you WON'T try to win the game with an actual plan to execute a 2minute drill?

    Gotcha. :icon_wink:

This was indeed a big "FUUCK YOU" to Mr. Davis. :icon_party:

Shows how intelligent they are. Cocky lil' devils.

Don't ever think we are out of a game with Philip and LT in there.

Remember when Cincy put 28 up on us at the half and Philip was hollering on the sidelines "They'll need more that 28 points to beat us"? And he backed it up with an arse woopin'.

Act II, Scene III, Radier Sideline
Kiffin: Let's try a 76 yard field goal! You made a few 69 or 70 yarders by the skin of your teeth in warmup right?
Janikowski: Sure. I bet I can make it.
QB Coach: But Russel just threw a 70 yard bomb backing up. Buy him some time and we could actually get a hail mary completion against this squad.
Kiffin: Nah, that would mean we actually put up a good lead on the Chargers, notorius for beating teams in those situations. Let's keep it at two possesions.
Janikowski: It'll hurt my stats and make us all look like fools.
Kiffin: We're the Raiders; we always look like fools
QB Coach: I'm still saying I believe Jamarcus Russell could get this one and what's the worst that can happen? An INT ran back for touchdown? Not likely...
We kick it and Cromartie, who I remind you has THE longest return in history, and we'll have a hard time preventing him from running all the way back.
Kiffin: **** it! I'm fired anyways. Maybe I'll go down as the coach who risked it all and shattered the FG record for all-time.
    **** YOU AL DAVIS!
Janikowski comes up WAY short and Antonio Cromartie returns for a short spurt.
    Kiffin: At least we tried
    Russell: **** you Lane.
    Kiffen: **** you Raiders!
QB Coach: Grade A bullshit Lane, Grade A bullshit you *******!
Al Davis: What the **** happened? I fell asleep...Did my team lose again?
    AND.............scene!
