I just hope this is false. I understand all the reasons why Norv fits. But a can't get over his horrendous record as a head-coach in this league. Granted--the Raiders had a piss-poor offense and their QB was mediocre, but I really don't know how Norv would in any way be an upgrade over Marty. The only thing I can think of is that AJ is gripping over the idea over Shelmon as OC and believes it would be much easier to fix the DC position than the OC.

Earlier in the week AJ and Dean were said to be "giddy" over the direction of the team. This is what they were "giddy" about???

The raiders werent good when he coached there and neither were the skins he coached. Im actually afriad of what Norv would do with rivers,LDT, gates and if he drafts a good WR. could it be another dallas when they had the triplets Emmit, the playmaker and Aikmen? Gates, LDT,Rivers?

Im sick of AJ Smith. We dont need ****in Turner. Hes always about the guys he knows over the guys who are qualified.
If we hired Ryan we wouldnt even need to hire a DC. And we could also let Shelmon run the "Cameron" philosophy.

Not only do we need to find a DC now, we need to find one that runs a good 3-4.

im not lookin forward to this.

Ted cortrell is likely to be the DC and he runs a 3-4. If turner is higherd shelmon will be the OC becuse he knows cams system which is the one norv put in place.

Norv is... third on my list, behind Ryan then Singletary.

    Either way, me no likee.

In AJ I trust, but if he hired Norv, I will officially trust him a little less. We need a defensive mind here - our offense is good with Shelmon.

    C'mon AJ, hire Rex Ryan!

So, for the fawning throngs of AJites the chant is changing.

Before the clouds of incents (smelling strangly of whacky tabacky) migles with the throngs chanting "IN AJ WE TRUST...Ohhhhhhm"

Now the chants of the faithless has changed to "IN AJ WE TRUST...Ohhhhhhm, unless the bastige brings in Norv..."

    Priceless.

    You are correct sir!
I think Deano may have a big influence in this decision though.
In AJ we trust, in Norv we don't! Unless he takes us to the bowl and wins it.

CHARGERS TELL RYAN THAT NORV IS THE GUY

We're told that the San Diego Chargers have told Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, the early favorite to succeed Marty Schottenheimer as coach of the team, that the job is going to 49ers offensive coordinator Norv Turner.

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reported earlier on Monday that the Chargers were leaning strongly toward Turner.

Of course, Turner was the clubhouse leader for the Cowboys' job, too. And we all know what happened with that one.

Regardless, Ryan has been told (we're told) that he's not the guy, and that Norv is.

Presumably, Turner will work out a contract and then high-tail it to Indy for the scouting combine.

You're wrong. I'm still glad Marty is gone and I'll take my chances.

Let's be fair, Conc. Most of us have said we'll be pissed at AJ if the choice really is Norv.

Maybe you can excuse Norv's time in Oakland because of the dysfunction of the Raider organization, but Norv had SEVEN YEARS with the Redskins, and didn't do squat. Truly a worse-case scenario: We would weaken the defense side of the ball by hiring Cottrell as DC, and Norv's offensive philosophy doesn't fit our personnel as well as Cam's.

EDIT: Man, we'd better hope that Glazer and PFT are wrong.

I would rather have Ike Turner than Norv Turner.

Sometimes TK when you jump, you find you were standing at the edge of a very long fall. Settle down gun man...

I dont want Norv. What I am commenting on is the ability of people to chant "AJ is GAWD" when he does something they like (Such as shipping off Brees and promoting Rivers), then turn around and change their entire tune when AJ is reportedly going to do something they dont like.

My thoughts are, either he has earned your trust or he hasnt.

So dont come at me saying I am excusing anything, and perhaps the "lets be fair" line should be said before the mirror.

 Sorry Toby. This guy is a good coordinator, but has never done anything as a HC. He is the worst choice out of any that we have interviewed IMO. If this report is the facts, it is a sad, sad day in Boltsville. Lets hope AJ and Dean know what they are doing, and not just going for the 'inexpensive' coach.
