Does this really need it's own thread?

This is what SL is bitching about (and the part of his complaint I agree with)

What are you talking about? I am voicing my opinion that Norv is a horrible coach. Can I at least be allowed this?

You're not voicing your opinion. You're voicing Jerry Rice's opinion.

Which agrees with mine. In case no one knows my opinion I'll state it now. I think Norv is a horrible coach and should already be fired.

I wasn't asking why you're feeling the need to state your opinion. I was asking why you feel the need to do so in a new thread when there's already existing threads on this subject.

I was showing that someone that is respected around the league shares the same opinion of ours. All the other threads have already been beated to death.

He's trying to win the "I Hate Norv the Most" contest. He can't expect to be the champion if he only posts how much he hates Norv a whole bunch of times in any of the numerous Norv Hate threads that already exist. He's got to create new threads with sh*t we all saw a long time ago.

You know that you don't have to open it. It isn't like the subject tricked you into thinking it was about something different. When you see a anti-norv thread, why not just avoid opening it?

Hate? It isn't hate when ever thing I say about him is true. But I guess if don't call Norv a genius or a awesome coach or that I he's super duper that must mean am hating.

Hate all you like. I want Norv gone too. Just don't flood the main board with multiple threads on the same subject. :)

I can't speak for SL, but I opened the thread knowing full well what I was getting into and have no problem admitting that.

I don't agree with most of SL's thread that suggests we shouldn't waste our time bitching about it on message boards. But I do agree with him that it's overkill when multiple threads are started on the same subject.

This is less about Norv Turner and more about message forum etiquette.

It's even worse when two are three of the threads are active and the person who just started the thread was one of the ones posting in them but he still feels the need to go to the main board and post ANOTHER thread on the same subject.

But why can't you show this in one of the already existing threads?

And who are you trying to convince here anyways? It's painfully obvious that the majority consensus on these boards is that Norv Turner sucks.

The Chargers' performance under Norv Turner is a lot more damning than one ex-player's opinion.

Like RIP pointed out, Troy Aikman says Norv is the best coach he's ever played for. So now we have conflicting opinions from two hall of famers. Uh oh.

Troy played for him when he was an OC with Dallas and Rice played for him as a HC. That is the big difference. I think most of us agree that he is a good OC but he does not have what it takes to be a HC.

Has Rice ever explained WHY he felt that way? Of course, most of his career was under Bill Walsh, one of the great all-time coaches, mighta set his standards pretty high.

    BTW, here's another one:

Mark Schlereth on Norv Turner: 'I Agree With Jerry Rice'
    http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2007/02/21/mark-schlereth-on-norv-turner-i-agree-with-jerry-rice/

    Edit: Found this:

Add Jerry Rice to the long list of people who think the San Diego Chargers' decision to hire Norv Turner was a bad idea. On a radio appearance this morning, Rice said Turner was a good offensive coordinator, but that he lacked the motivational skills necessary to be a head coach.

"He could not motivate the players," Rice said. "He had no control."

"Norv (Turner, then-coach of the Raiders) was never really head coach material ... He couldn't control the players and guys like Charles Woodson walked all over him. Woodson routinely showed up for practice and meetings when he felt like it, along with some teammates."

"We (Raiders in Super Bowl) weren't prepared, we weren't ready and we weren't focused. So when the opportunity came to speak up, I did ... I could tell by their body language they weren't interested (listening). ... seemed to take the loss as just another regular-season game. They were just happy to have made the Super Bowl, apparently."

    Sound familiar guys?

Wasn't Bill Callahan the Raiders coach during the Super Bowl? Now Norv is responsible for the Raiders epic beating against Tampa Bay? Meanwhile Schlereth never played for Turner, so I'm not sure how he would agree with Rice's assessment.

No. The Head Coach for Oakland was Bill Callahan. This was for their Loss to Tampa Bay.

We have yet again a Anti-Norv Thread go figure. Sigh!!!!!

Honestly, and with all due respect, what top shelf caliber NFL coach will want to coach in San Diego? Great city, great people, one of the nicest places in the world to live, but it has never been a hotbed of kick-*** football teams that can grit it out until the end.

I love this board, and I love the Chargers even though I am a life-long Pats fan, and they are my favs, but until the Charger organization decides that winning is the only goal, they will always be a collection of great talent falling by the wayside before the big party starts...that goes to management and ownership, IMO.
