While the Jets have asked for permission to speak with Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, they have several other coaches on their radar who are in the postseason and are awaiting the results of this weekend's games.

Among other candidates being considered are Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, Colts defensive coordinator Ron Meeks and Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera. The Jets haven't ruled out the college ranks as well.

AJ better make the right decision despite of where we finish.

Face it... a monkey could get this team to 8-8.

Mike Nolan is sitting right there waiting to take his place if he does leave.

Hopefully he misses his window because he'll be coaching through January. [IMG]

Yes, Norv has mindf_cked me all the way back to the "hope" side.

    Someone kill me now.

Double plus ungood but there's still potential to get other decent coaches, as mentioned,

I hope Ron stays here with our Bolt's. Can AJ do a back room deal with Ron and assure him that if Norv slips up he's next in line?

I have a pretty good idea that THAT deal is already in place. AJ is arrogant, but not stupid.

    Please stay, Ron!!!!

I hope he stays. If not, well I wish him the best, unless he is playing the Chargers.

I want Ron to stay but if he's offered a HC position else where... say good-bye.

It's ALL 100% up to AJ!!!

just like anyone with a career if he's deserves a promotion but has hit the ceiling with the firm he's with now no one should hold it against him if he takes an opportunity elsewhere.
that being said i hope he stays too.

I don't believe anybody would hold it against Ron if he moves elsewhere for a higher promotion, though AJ could make a decision too.

Unless we win the Super Bowl, would it be worth keeping Norv and letting Ron walk?

Just because the Jets are interested doesn't mean he's leaving. I'm sure the Jets would much rather make a bigger signing whether it's the rat or the Giants DC. Rivera is probably the fallback if the others aren't interested. I hope he stays, make him assistant HC/D-Coordinator.

Of course not but I don't think the Jets will be the only team interested in interviewing him either.

So far, the four done deals of teams that need a HC are Broncos, Seahawks, Browns, and Jets.
Soon to come (most likely)... Lions, Raiders
Other possibilities... Chiefs, Rams, 49ers, Bengals, Cowboys, Redskins

That's A LOT of job openings!

Um there won't be anywhere near that many openings.

49ers just gave Mike Singletary a 4 year deal.

If the Cowboys were to fire Wade it'd be for a big name coach (Cowher or the Rat)

Redskins I don't see them dumping their coach after only one year.

Seahawks already have their coach lined up.

Raiders are looking for an offensive coach (which is pretty clear).

The Players on the Rams are lobbying for Hasslet to stay.

So realistically that leaves the Broncos, Browns, Jets, Lions, Chiefs, and Bengals.

Then you look at the top names available, there's still Mangini, Shannahan, the Pats OC, the Giants DC, the Titans DC, Rex Ryan and pretty much any other OC/DC on a winning team. Really unless the Chargers D dominates in the playoffs or if the other coaches aren't biting that's the only way I see him getting a shot. If the first happens hopefully that would equal a SB ring in which case it would suck to lose him but I guess that's the price you pay.

Also let's not forget he was initially Norv's choice for a DC, so who knows who he'd have in mind to replace him.
