I heard about it during the Stephen Cooper interview earlier this week. Players were called out for going out during the week too much.

I don't think that Marty is sticking his nose into it, LT did call him. But I do see your point.

I think Rivers is trying to be the leader but because LT is LT the team looks to him. When Rivers can put this team on his back and carry them that is when I think the team will start to look to him as the leader. Maybe that is what Norv is trying to do. Have Rivers win games instead of LT

My thoughts exactly. We should get the players to pay us to party for them.

    Who gets the bullets?

Philly, you are 100% correct. It starts and ends with the quarterback. The running back, no matter how good, can not carry a team. When that happens, so do injuries.

    I like your thinking!
We pay them to play in a way we couldn't, so they should pay us to party for them in a way they shouldn't.

This is only Rivers' second year as the starting QB, this is not a negative reflection on him.

This IS a negative reflection on Norv Turner. LT should have talked to his head coach, but since he doesn't respect Norv, LT called Marty on the phone instead.

As long as Norval is head coach, it will always be up to the players to take care of stuff like this on their own. This will NEVER work out for the long term.

So if LT had called his college coach and his college coach had encouraged him to be more of a leader, would that guy be sticking his nose in? WTF?

Rivers is a leader, but he does not have the all-pro, HOF cred that LT does. I think LT giving up booze was less about him and more about encouraging other players to do the same. I doubt LT is some huge booze hound.

The internet sports world will now go crazy with wild speculation about LT's boozing habits.

    THANK YOU!!!!

ALL OF THIS IS 100% REFLECTED ON THE COACH!!!!

We DIDN'T have this problem under Marty. Especially at the Minnesota game where some players were out partying Saturday night AFTER THE CURFEW!!! THAT IS 100% ON THE COACH!!!

Last season, I ran into Olshansky, Wilhelm, Phillips, and Jammer in Denver at the ESPN Bar and Grill, Saturday night before the game.
It was about 8:00. They weren't drinking. They showed up to shoot some baskets and get something to eat. Then they left around 9:30.
AND THAT IS A SIGN OF A WELL COACHED TEAM!!!!

ARE THE REST OF YOU READY TO COME OUT OF DENIAL?!!!!
I MEAN LT CALLED MARTY FOR ADVICE!!! GET A CLUE!!! :trout:

I wouldn't have pegged LT for a party animal or even a casual drinker. Guess I hold him to a high standard.

Maybe he doesn't drink at all and he just said he would give it up.

People are making a lot out of this. What if he said he would give up eating eggs. Does that mean he eats a dozen eggs a day? Maybe his cholesterol is so high he will have a heart attack any play now?

Jeezu. I haven't even seen anything but LEISURE saying LT said anything about booze. Can someone show something other than that?
