DT says he wanted to get his contract resolved so he could focus on football.

SAN DIEGO – Sixth-year defensive tackle Travis Johnson[IMG] signed his one-year contract tender Wednesday.
One of five restricted free agents unsigned before Mini Camp, Johnson already was practicing with the team.
“Business as usual,” Johnson said. “I was going to be here regardless of whether I signed it or not. I went upstairs to go ahead and get it out of the way.”
Johnson, beginning his second season with the Chargers, played in 13 games last year and finished with 16 tackles and a pass deflection.
Asked about his decision to practice despite his unresolved contract situation, Johnson said he didn’t consider anything different.
“Where else would I be?” he said. “Football’s my job. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

"Signing was just a formality," Johnson said. "I like playing for this organization, and I was looking at the big picture. I want to be here beyond this season. They showed a lot of faith in me by offering the tender, something they didn't have to do. Hopefully, they see the upside, they see my hard work and they see that I want to be here."
