The "Hammer" just dropped the Hammer right now on Jordan live. I think they'll retain Earl, but not sure. Hammer backing up his decision to put on those bozos. I'm still listening.....

Hal Brown, Ted Mendenhall and Earl will now be "The Bleacher Bums"

Hal is taking calls live and people aren't holding punches - call in to voice your thoughts if you want 877-792-1090

Yeah, I'm listening to it right now Sy. I think if they just tone it down a bit it will be alright. I mean you can be opinionated, but don't insult anybody! Jordan really crossed the line and deserved to get fired imo.

I wish they would fire the lot of them, and put either Kentera or Smith on in the 3-7pm slot. At least those guys are reasonably intelligent.

I like Teddy Mendenhal... Hal and Earl can take a long walk off a short cliff for I care [career wise] :p

I'll give it a chance, but if Earl continues to "keep it real" I'll be turning the station for good.

    crying? jebus :icon_eek:

I'm already back on 1360 - once Hal started saying things like "there are no "right" ratings and "wrong" ratings..." followed by bashing the "station across the street" I'd had enough.

1360's ratings problems are a direct result of broadcast wattage - they applied for a 50k watt feed back in June of 08 and are still waiting on the FCC or whoever gives that stuff out. That's why you can only hear them in San Diego proper. The content was far better, hell even now The Czabe > Rome -- esp now that I know the lyrics to "Come on and watch some basketball"

XX Sports host Smith is fired:icon_banana:

    5:03 p.m. March 16, 2009

Jordan Smith, half of the controversial afternoon show on XX Sports Radio, has been fired for making “some very unfortunate and hurtful comments utilizing unacceptable language,” the station said Monday.

Hal Brown, vice president of programming at BCA Radio, which operates the all-sports station, made the announcement live on the radio. Brown also said he would be taking Smith's place on the “Bleacher Bums” show alongside Irwin Earl Milan, who worked with Smith, and a new addition, Ted Mendenhall, who has worked mostly behind the scenes at XX Sports.

In a rant critical of LaDainian Tomlinson last week, Smith used vulgar language to describe what the Chargers running back should do with the Thanksgiving turkeys he gives away each year to needy families. He used the same term to say what Tomlinson should do with his community service.

Did this really happen live during the broadcast? I'd love to hear that.

Jordan crossed the line with his comments, but "the Hammer" is boring as it gets, and Ted Mendenhall sounds like a whiny Napolean Dynomite. Oh well, back to my ipod for my 15 min commute home.

Yeah it was promoted as a "press conference" for the 1st 30 minutes but basically an announcement to say Jordan was fired and to promote the 2 new bleacher bums. I think it would have been o.k. as long as those 2 idiots would quit dissin SD Sports teams all the time. We get enough of that from the NATIONAL media! We don't need more of it locally.

I guess 30 minutes as a press conference is better than 20 min of dead air like what happened with the Jim Rome show after the Chris (er .. Jim) Everett incident.

Every major city has a station with personalities like that. If I want crap like that... I'll listen to Howard Stern.

Man, I'll never forget that incident, and neither will they. I think Rome never was the same after that, but he learned where not to cross the line. Chrissy was gonna kick his arse too and Chrissy is like 6'5" and Rome is short like me. But I agree with Rome that Chrissy was a wuss.....

ATL I mean DI or whatever i call myself this week should have been ousted too. they both bash the bolts and then tell everyone the'yre bolt fans at least jordan showed his true colors. "I'm Just keeping it real" as they would say glad I switched stations but can't they get someone better, at least back in the day Lee Hacksaw Hamilton was entertaining. before his mouth got him in trouble. I still listen to Scott & BR in the morning, they know how to do a show
