    Dear San Diego Sports Fans,

On Friday morning, one could feel the air of electric excitement building up in anticipation of a great sports weekend. Sadly, by the time the clock reach 00:00 at Qualcomm Stadium on Sunday afternoon, this air of charged excitement had completely evaporated to be replaced by the ill wind of defeat on all fronts.

On Friday evening, all anticipated things were possible and we were flying quite high. Our Padres had just taken the first game of three against the Dodgers to move 8 games ahead of them. Thus, this weekend the Pads were in perfect position to effectively put a season-ending end to the team we love to hate and take a major step toward claiming the NL West Title. Instead, our Padres lost both Saturday and Sunday giving instant rebirth to the Dodgers fading hopes and put our dreams of MLB play-offs temporarily on hold.

On Saturday, we anticipated a great road victory by our Aztecs over Air Force. We just knew that this Aztecs team would make a major statement to the rest of the MWC (and us) that pre-season predictions of their cellar status had no merit. We all desperately wanted to believe that AirCraft Football would finally take-off and this program's long-awaited turn-around to success would finally begin. Instead, this team suffered yet another disappointing defeat and now this program has seemingly crashed to the ground.

And then there was Sunday. We had waited eight months to community exhale the bad taste of play-off defeat suffered at the hands of the NY Jets. No Charger season opening home game in history had been more greatly anticipated than this one on September 11th, 2005. The air of electric excitement that this is "The Year of the Bolts" was felt by all. The stage had been set with everything in place for a great victory against the Cowboys and the official launching of our Bolts' run to the Superbowl. It was not to be.

All told, a rather "Sad Diego" Sports Weekend.

By sundown Sunday, the only thing left from this weekend for San Diego Sports Fans is to anticipate that air of electric excitement gathering once again for the upcoming one. Immediately following this most disappointing sports weekend in San Diego, it will be a real challenge but of course we and our teams will rise to meet it.

Next weekend, we will greatly anticipate our Padres nationally airing their claim to the NL West Title. We will also anticipate the exciting thrill of witnessing our Aztecs arise from the ashes to shock the entire collegiate football universe by defeating Ohio State. And above all, we will anticipate finally exhaling together in great victory as our Chargers beat the Broncos in Denver and thus begin their electrifying bolt to the Superbowl!

For this is what being A True San Diego Sports Fan is all about.....

    Just Wait Until Next Weekend!

It was a very sad sports weekend for San Diego. I am very optimistic about our Bolts next week. Gates is back and its a huge division game. The offense will be running on all cylinders. LT, Gates, Brees, Mcardell, Parker and our O-line will have their A-game.

Our defense will make adjustments in the scondary and I hope to see Merriman in action help the front line.

As for the rest of the San Diego teams, I hope that the Pads wrap up the NL west and that the Aztecs can pull off a huge upset (which most likely won't happen).

    Go Chargers!
