Kassim was on NFL Sirius today with Pat and Tim. I guess its out there somewhere that he is now going to work with the D and Riveria As Pat and Tim both knew about it, so now Kassim will try to get on the Field as a Safety. Mentioned it was in the works since last year. Norv is Ok with it and Riveria likes that he plays SP Teams and tackes well, thinks he can make transisiton to Safety. Evidently Kassim played some D in college. Basically Kassim said he has a better chance of getting on the field because we are so good at WR. Funny thing is he made it sound like he's been happy only being a special teamer all this time but we here in Charger dome know otherwise

Got this from another Charger forum

His agent (Drew Rosenhaus [SPIT]) put it out on twitter a few days ago:
Kassim Osgood is hoping this season he gets a chance to contribute as a receiver or safety. He can be much more than a special teams player 10:45 PM May 24th from Tweetie [IMG]

Its got to be insanely hard for someone 6'5 to play saftey. You'd have to be freakishly agile and quick to stay with recievers, and still able to coil and uncoil to lay a lick.

Its a 1 in 1,000,000 shot that he'll get a chance to play saftey in a game in 2009, but if he does defense are going to target him even more often than they target Clinton Hart in coverage.

I think it's kind of a cool idea - he's a baller on ST, hits hard, tackles in open space well and since he knows the WR role well should have the knowledge to handle coverage - could be a surprisingly good fit. At least it's something to be tried in OTA's and TC - if he's a good option they wil play him there, if not they won't. No big~

Retired Catholic posted a thread named "rumor" posting this very same information in early March... Retired Catholic Props for scooping this info previously

I noted then as I will now, Kassim is a great tackler, has a knack for the ball and can't catch worth a lick.... Sounds like a DB to me...

Osgood is a good guy. I watch the channel 933 video of him doing the bolt theme song it was kool. I feel he doesnt have good hands thats the reason why he hasnt move up in the roster. Maybe getting a chance on defense will give him some a shot to atleast play in some of ron rivera defensive packages.

It isn't so - Rosenhaus' tweet was mentioned in an article (can't remember if it was PFT, or where) and I clicked on it since it mention "safety". (Seems like a lot of folks are after Hart's job).

We will see if there is any real fire to this story once I hear it from other than Kassim or his agent. Up to this point that is the only folks talking about it that are in a position to verify it.

...I think you're right matilack. It's a longshot at best but Aaron Rouse with the Packers is a safety and he's 6'4" 223, I believe. In truth, safety might actually be more likely than WR for him though :icon_shrug:

Cut Osgood. We need the roster spot much worse for another OL or LB.
