Yes to both Bennett and Johnson. Cut Tolbert or Hester.

Gartrell is way too wishy washy IMO... Hester will have a great season. He was on point most of the pre-season with his blocking.

To answer the question of the thread....

    Q. Keep Bennett?

    A. You Focking "a" we keep Bennett....:abq2:

He's done too much to be cut, and I believed he'd be tossed aside for Johnson initially

I'd rather cut Hester or Tolbert. Manumaleuna can be our back up FB. I thought he did a good job last year when used as a FB. I wouldn't mind if Hester were to go. I don't think he's all that. Kind of too small to be FB and not good enough to be RB.

Yes, we keep Bennett . For short yardage in crunch time I would prefer Bennett over Johnson.

I'd keep bennett, and It's a toss up between hester and tolbert, hesters slow, no first step, I really don't see much use for the guy, and Tolbert is more seasoned as a fb, this is really a tough call. But my first two out would be johnson and hester.

Keep Bennett. Put Johsnon on the Practice squad. If they say good bye to someone, say bye bye to Tolbert.

    I voted Bennett & Tolbert.
If you want the Superbowl, experienced players are what you want - Tolbert 's great on special teams.
Gartrell will be best in two, three years.

If we get lucky enough to put Johnson on the PS after we cut him then cool. But I think Johnson has done enough in the preseason to impress another team.

I, too, think this will happen. So it's a hard decision for the coaches.

Somehow I don't think we'll be that lucky.

I say gamble on it -- keep Bennett, and if GJ gets away someone else will come along in a year or two.

Did we watch the same preseason?
Against 2nd stringers, he did nothing and proved hes too slow and weak to play against anyone except 3rd/4th stringers

I doubt anyone even thinks about picking him up

I agree, but the same can be said about Hester, have I been in the bathroom the last 14 months when he actually GAINED yardage? Or made lo neal like blocks? Or anything within the realm of positive?

If were keeping Hester as FB fine, not a great choice but whatever, if he's considered a slash, or hback or half back he should be shown the door before Johnson based on performance.

So glad he made the team. IMO no bubble player did more this preseason to PROVE he belongs.

I like the roster - too thin at OL for my tastes, but that could still change.

Bennett showed that he can fill in should something happen.

Bennett I think will fill that "Michael Turner" role and be the primary running back up allowing Sproles to be mixed in more on 3rds and for more effect on substitutions.

    Concur,

I also think this move will allow us to keep LT fresher for postseason play, by having Bennett run the clock down in games that get out of hand. We could also alternate series between these two talented backs.

If LT goes down for any reason, I feel alot more comfortable with the experienced MB back there, with a full grasp of our playbook and many practices under his belt unlike last season when we claimed him towards the end of the season.

Keeping him could pay off for us big time, not to mention the fact that he would've assuredly been picked up had we let him go - I'll bet there were at least a half dozen teams waiting for us to make our cuts, and drooling over the chance to grab him and they probably threw chairs when they learned that we had decided to hold on to him!
