Question - think the Bolts would consider bringing in KGB to finish the season? Probably a longshot but just a random thought...

Gbaja-Biamila waived, Harrell activated from Packers' PUP list
    By John Clayton
    ESPN.com

The Green Bay Packers, who activated defensive tackle Justin Harrell from the physically-unable-to-perform list, opened a roster spot by releasing a longtime fan favorite.

Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, who has 74½ sacks in nine seasons with the team, was notified Saturday morning he was being released.

Gbaja-Biamila, a 31-year-old defensive end, has only one start and half a sack this season. He had the team's highest cap number at $7.72 million.

"We want to thank Kabeer for his contributions to the Green Bay Packers," Packers general manager Ted Thompson said in a statement. "During his time here, he has been a big part of our organization and our community. We wish Kabeer and his family well."

Because he's a vested veteran, Gbaja-Biamila will not lose any of his $6.15 million salary. He will be on the waiver wire until Monday.

"My nine years as a Green Bay Packer have been a blessing that is beyond words. I thank God for bringing me to this first-class organization and first-class community," Gbaja-Biamila said in a statement. "... I don't know what my football future holds, but one thing I've realized is that football is more than a game -- it's about building relationships and changing lives."

Harrell has been unable to play this season after undergoing two operations to repair a herniated disk in his back, an injury he suffered lifting weights in March. He was able to begin practicing two weeks ago.

Harrell, who appeared in seven games last season, with two starts, was the Packers' first-round pick (No. 16 overall) in 2007.

The guy has lost his speed. If he was still worth keeping, the Packers would keeep him.

I'm not so sure. I think he's on the trajectory Jamal will be on next season.

    SDSU represent!!!

But he is declining pretty rapidly i hear, and he'd have to be a OLB in our defense. Could he make the switch this late in his career?

KJabeer hasnt been lighting it up so let them have him. He wont be a good fit in New England either. Its too late to try and get him into a totally different possition in a 3-4.

One off year doesn't make a player- apart from his rookie season- he has been consistant. Same amount of sacks as Jamal and only 1 less than Castillo

Wouldn't hurt to kick the tires and as mentioned he's right up there with our other DL members. Besides might help free up some one-on-one matches for phillips or tucker on the other side. Doesn't hurt to at least bring him in and see what he's got.

Not saying we should get him, but IF we did, what would it cost us moneywise?

I still think his leadership qualities are worth at least taking a look at him.

Because every time some team releases someone, someone thinks we need him. It happens every time.

    No.

When you're trying to fix a problem you need to pinpoint that problem first. If the problem was the D coordinator then picking up KGB would be an un-needed expediture. Bringing KGB in right now is throwing darts because you're panicked.

Besides by the time he's up to full speed on the system/team its near the end of the season. Riviera doesn't need another variable to add to the mix.

    So... no.
