    Here is how to:
    A) Amp our D-line
    B) Dump Sproles salary

Step 1. Trade Darren Sproles and the 40th pick in the draft to the 49ers for the 17th pick in the draft.
Step 2. Draft Dan Williams (if available) or Brandon Graham with the newly acquired 17th pick
Step 3. Marcus Mason replaces Darren Sproles as the 3rd down running back.
Step 4. Relax knowing that we have taken a big leap forward in success.

    Optional, yet recommended:
Step 5. Draft Ryan Mathews with the 28th pick
    Step 6. Celebrate a successful 1st round :icon_toast:

You want a guy who couldn't even beat out Rock Cartright to take Sproles' place?
Not sure about that, but more power to you if it did work out.

Well they have similar skill sets and AJ must have seen something in Mason or else he wouldn't have gotten him

I do like the idea of getting Dan Williams and Ryan Matthews though. Wouldn't that be something?

If we trade up i'd like the idea of getting C.J. Spiller better, then Cody with the next pick...

Either way i think the likelihood of Sproles getting moved is quite real.

    28. San Diego Chargers
    Ryan Mathews, RB, Fresno State
I talked with Mathews this week and he told me he wore No. 21 in college because he idolized LaDainian Tomlinson growing up in California. He winds up in this spot every week and as long as a team like Houston doesn't take him earlier, he would be a solid fit for the Chargers. He had 1,808 rushing yards as a senior. (Previous pick: Mathews)

Best and Sproles? That would be a nightmare for opposing d's if norv wasn't our coach but considering both of them would run 1 yard dives with no o line i don't think its much help.

That doesnt mean he is set to make him Sproles replacement. AJ signs many scrubs that dont pan out. It dont cost him anything to give them a try out.

I'll bet the Chargers don't draft neither Cody nor Mathews, I'm thinking he'll draft that DE/OLB from TCU or someone like that, RB will be drafted at the earliest in the 3rd round

Yeah, maybe we can land the next Lorenzo Booker, Brian Calhoun, or Vernand Morency.:abq2:

I doubt AJ is that committed to surprising people. Whatever people say there are more bottom feeders than Frank Gores the longer you wait.

 I was trying to say you'll find more bottom feeders in the 3rd round......than steals like Frank Gore. For every Gore there is 3 more RBs who were wasted draft picks.

we have nothing right now at the "every-down-running-back" position on the team... I think we draft a tailback early. Sproles isn't an every down RB.

Usually I'd agree as AJ was the only guy to spend a 1st round pick on a player with a 2nd round grade last year (English).

But this year the needs are too gaping for us to take another luxury pick. If we draft another DE/OLB or CB in the 1st I'll be shocked more than I was last year.
