    L.T. A GAME-TIME DECISION
Posted by Mike Florio on January 3, 2009, 11:02 a.m.

John Clayton of ESPN reports that the availability of Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson (groin) will be determined during pregame warmups.

But Clayton thinks L.T. will play. The question is whether he’ll be effective.

Or whether he’ll be brooding on the sidelines with his helmet on for most of the game.

Clayton also believes that tight end Antonio Gates (ankle) will find a way to play on Saturday night against the Colts, despite some pessimism from the team about his availabilty.

The key for the Colts is that safety Bob Sanders will play. The only glitch for the Colts is that they’re down to the third-stringer at one of the guard positions.

UPDATE: Ed “I’m In Your Head” Werder reports that coach Norv Turner says L.T. won’t play unless Turner thinks L.T. can be effective.

The tendon that fuses the groin to the pelvic bone is not attached, per espn, that doesn't sound too good to me.

Anything that has to do with the groin is not good to me! Maybe we need to activate Micheal Bennett today.

I'll be shocked of LT plays with that injury. I don't see how he can be effective.

L.T. HAS “TOTALLY DETACHED” ADDUCTOR TENDON
Posted by Mike Florio on January 3, 2009, 11:34 a.m.

Once again, Chris Mortensen of ESPN has one-upped his colleagues in Bristol.

While guys like John Clayton and Ed Werder have been offering superficial tidbits about whether Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson might play on Saturday night against the Chargers, Mortensen goes deeper.

Specifically, Mort reports that Tomlinson has a “totally detached” adductor tendon in his groin.

It sounds serious. Perhaps because it is.

Put simply, a tendon that attaches part of Tomlinson’s groin muscle to his pelvic bone has come undone.

If it’s true, we can’t imagine how Tomlinson can play, much less walk.

Then again, it’s possible that the information is being exaggerated by those who want L.T. to be perceived as a tough guy. Or, at a minimum, far tougher than he was perceived last year, when he sat out for most of the AFC title game with a strained MCL, while quarterback Philip Rivers played with a torn ACL.

Bottom line? It could be that Darren Sproles gets a great chance to showcase his talents as he heads to free agency in 2009.

Just once I'd like a fair phucking shot in the playoffs without 3 of our 4 best players hobbled or out. Just once.

We have to draft a RB this year. Sproles is not an every down back.

I am jonesing for better trench play. I would rather get a retread at RB.

Open holes and collapse the pocket.

    BEEF.

You think LT is going to pull the "pouting routine" or does he become his normal self and cheer on his team? Not pom pom stuff but at least the LT of old as though he gave a fuc about what was happening on the field.

If he sulks again ..... puuta' madre. :icon_eek:

Tim Sullivan just said Gates is more doubtful than LT.

    Come on down Legs!!!.

And maybe we see some of Michael Bennett?.

I say rest LT if that is what is required. I'm tired of a 50% healthy player trying to soldier on and hurt the team.

    Rashad Jennings, RB, Liberty
Jennings has been extremely productive during his career, rushing for over 4,000 yards and 43 touchdowns on the ground. As a senior, he ran for 1,500 yards and 17 scores. He is an intriguing blend of size and speed, and in a week senior crop of backs, could really make some noise on draft day. Jennings tips the scales in the 230 lb range, but has the cutback ability to make the first defender miss and surprising speed to turn the corner and pick up chunks of yardage. Jennings has also shown to be a weapon out of the backfield, and those all around skills could allow him to provide an impact next season at the professional level.

I've seen this kid play at Liberty in person. If he slips to the 4th .... :abq1: :abq2:

L.T., GATES ACTIVE FOR SATURDAY NIGHT
Posted by Mike Florio on January 3, 2009, 7:15 p.m.

The Chargers and the Colts have announced their inactive players for Saturday night’s playoff game.

For the home team, running back LaDainian Tomlinson and tight end Antonio Gates are active, and will play.

Deactivated are Charlie Whitehurst (No. 3 quarterback), fullback Billy Latsko, fullback Mike Tolbert, linebacker Brandon Siler, guard Kynan Forney, tackle Corey Clark, receiver Malcolm Floyd, and defensive tackle Ian Scott.

The surprise, however, is that running back Michael Bennett will see his first game action since joining the team. The Chargers claimed Bennett on waivers after he was cut by the Bucs in November, primarily to keep him away from the Denver Broncos.

Bennett’s activation could mean that the Chargers aren’t expecting much out of L.T., who has a groin injury that, according to some reports, involves a detached tendon.

The inactive players for the Colts are running back Lance Ball, defensive back Jamie Silve, linebacker Gary Brackett, guard Jamey Richard, guard Mike Pollak, receiver Pierre Garcon, defensive tackle Daniel Muir, and defensive end Curtis Johnson.

    I guess this makes me a semi-prophet!
