Didn't know there was some unrest in LA over the last game. Syd set me straight.

The game's not in LA, but as I said, I do hope there's peace in LA if the Lakers do win. :icon_toast:

Wouldn't want to Scar. I hate the Kobe Lakers more than I hate the Raiders.

I think he was telling you not to jump back on the wagon after Kobe retires. :abq2:

So, who do you root for now? Other than whoever's playing the Lakers.

My teams are the Bulls and the Clippers. Clipper fan since they were here in SD and a Bulls fan when Jordan came into the league.

    Clippers?

There are some BADLY run/owned teams in our country, then there is the Clippers. Consider them the Raiders of the NBA with the WORST possible owner. I think the only reason he owns the Clippers is for a tax write off .

Back when Shaq was sent to Miami, the talk before that was Kobe going to the Clippers. I never believed that for a second. Sterling NEVER would have ponied up the cash for him.

They had a 100 million dollar contract on the table for him, but the Lakers gave him more.

CNN reporting Laker fans getting rowdy outside of the Staples Center. Burning trees and causing other problems.

Why hate him? He's matured so much over the past 3 years. That "immature tag doesnt apply anymore. He pushes his team and rallies around them. As a Laker fan that's gone in and out of liking him I can say he's earned my respect again the past 3-4 years. What more can he say? What more can he do?

I will always respect his skills, but I'm just a Kobe hater. Never liked him, his ego or his selfish attitude. 2 years of being a team player doesn't make up for the 11 years of being a team cancer. Imagine if he had loss this series, he would indeed be opting out of his contract. Remember just 2 seasons ago he was ready to give up on his team and asked to be traded. For me it's like T.O. or Cutler winning a Super Bowl. What more can he do? Nothing I guess for a basketball fan that just doesn't like him.

But like I said congratulations to you Scar and all the faithful Laker fans. You guys earned this championship and deserve it. Hopefully our Bolts will be celebrating the same way in Feb.

I just dont inderstand this "team cancer" thing nor do I care to. Kobe haters generally like to convince themselves that Shaq could've gotten the 3peat by himself and that Kobe would never win one without Shaq. Both theories are wrong and have been proven so. A cancer is Allen Iverson. Someone that can go to any good team and destroy it through selfish play, and Kobe is the opposite of that. Always has been. Shaq was important to our 3peat but he wasnt the only person we needed.

This victory solidifies Kobe's reputation and secures him in his own class. His skill set is unmatched nor will it be. He idolized MJ and took MJ's skill set to new levels and it showed when they played each other. No matter what, it's official that he can be thrown in the argument as one of if not the greatest to ever play the game. He's been playing for over a year now with virtually no pinky or ring finger since he wants to play so bad. The msperception of Kobe stops and it stops now.

I'm a laker fan first and foremost, but I have to say I wanted this one more for him than anything. The labels, the monkey on his back, the doubters, the haters, all got lifted off his shoulders finally. Now they have to either find the next person to pile on or shut the **** up. What can the haters say now? They have to respect him. he's not the person he was made out to be. I had to accept it a few years ago that I was wrong about him and I think it's going to take his exit from the NBA for some to realize how truly great of an honor it is to watch him play. There isnt a harder working man in the NBA.

Congratulations to the 2009 NBA Champion Lakers, and especially to coach Phil Jackson for surpassing Red Auerbach as the All-time leader in coaching NBA champions.

Red, wherever he may be, will certainly light up a cigar in tribute to Phil's great feat.

Let's be real now. How old was MJ when they played each other?

I totally agree with the rest of your post, however. Spot on.

I don't want to get into an MJ vs Kobe debate, but I think that it's unfair to say that any player is at Jordan's level. Kobe is a great player in his own right so is Lebron and Dwayne Wade. There are so many other accomplished current and former players ahead of those 3. So to say that he is just as great as MJ or better is disrespecting MJ, Magic, Kareem, Bird, Wilt, Russell, Duncan, etc. IMO, Wade is just as good as Kobe. Both led their teams to a championship. Lebron is a notch below.

As far as Kobe being a cancer, just look back at his history. The 2004 finals where he was the main cause of the Lakers losing because he tried to single handedly beat the Pistons when he had 3 other HOF calibur players in his team. Him pouting 2 years ago, putting himself above the Lakers organization by demanding a trade. Him orchestrating the split between Phil, Shaq and himself. (Although they all deny it now). Even Phil mentioned how uncoachable he was in his book. But whatever. he got his 1st championship minus Shaq, so we all have to give him credit for that.

    Kobe's a cancer?

If cancer can lead to 4 championships in 10 years and missing the playoffs only once in that decade I hope the Chargers and Padres get some cancer as well.

But I see your point. It could be argued that him being a little selfish 5 years ago is the reason the Lakers have only won a measly 4 championships over the past decade instead of 5.
