Dick LeBeau, the Steelers' defensive coordinator, is 68 and has been involved in the NFL nearly every year since he played cornerback for the Detroit Lions. He is person of modest means, but certainly not modest abilities. As a player, he appeared in 171 consecutive games, still an NFL record for cornerbacks, and ranks seventh all-time with 62 career interceptions.

When he was with the Lions from 1959-72, LeBeau played in the same division against running backs such as Gale Sayers, Paul Hornung and Jim Taylor. After 46 years in the league, he has tackled, coached, defensed and watched just about every running back from Donnie Anderson to Amos Zereoue.

And he has never quite seen anyone like LaDainian Tomlinson.</blockquote>
