DOn't get me wrong I love mattews but we shoulda drafted Legarrette Blount. COulda got him in the 7th and saved some picks. He is looking ridiculous for the bucks. Over 100 yards today. SHoulda picked BLount.

    Yeah I know.

I believe thats what I said all offseason while the "holier than thou" crowd around here dug into me.

But by all means, lets keep our white hats rather than risk a 7th round pick on a 6' 240lb beast like Blount. I'm so happy we drafted Dedrick Epps, its worked out well.

maybe a mangina. I know BLount was undrafted. We coulda got him in the 7th. Or undrafted. I tried to tell everyone just like Mattie and now we don't have BLount. Imagine Blount and TOlbert!

Mathews will be the better back in the future, but Blount would have given us some extreme talent in the backfield.

I like Mathews but I woulda rather seen the picks used for a lower RB and OL. In fact, the way Tolbert is surprising, we could gotten two beef picks out the deal and waited a year for a RB.

Don't know if he's that much better then Tolbert though I was one of those who wanted Dwyer/Dixon in the 5th/7th. Oh well. At least having Tolbert makes me feel better about passing on Blount

I believe there were a few of us against grabbing a RB so high in the draft & would have preferred that we spend 1 & 2 on defense.

Nice to see some of you coming back with that viewpoint after the fact.

I guess when you say we should draft like 100 people an offseason your bound to be right on a few.

I dont worry about Blount he will find some way to screw it up. He is a headcase.

Not to mention he isnt even averaging 5.0 yards a carry and rushed for 100+ only 3 times against to piss poor run defenses (except Atlanta).....Detroit, Atlanta, Arizona.

He is doing well for them but im not so sure how the bucs will do when people just start putting 8-9 in the box and make Josh Freeman beat them.

Blount is a thug. Let him implode on someone else's team.

You know I was all over Blount since before the 09' season started, I even had him pegged as a late 1st round pick for us at one point, then he went off and punched the guy and his reputation started to preceed his talent. I also argued up and down throughout the offseason that we needed 2 RBs in this draft, and he (like Tolbert has) would have been an ideal change of pace or clock killing back for Mathews and Sproles.

Its not like I fired buckshot at RBs, I was very open about who I didn't like (Dwyer, Tate, Gerhart for example), and very clear about who I did.

I like the two back sets for many reasons.

My preference would have been for the team to keep Michael Bennett. That release baffled me. The guy looked like he had gas in the tank to buy us some time to get a RB somewhere down the road. I loved Tolbert since day one (I do not watch college ball) so I had zero problems having him elevated to RB and I was hoping it would happen.

Anyway, not targeting a RB would have allowed us to get some linemen or trade up for that Suh dude. I like what I have seen from him in replays or games I have watched this year. The guy is an animal - a force on the line. Garay is on an adrenaline rush on the wrong side of 30 so the guys time is way limited.

Trumpy dude...do you have any idea what it would cost to trade up from 28, to 2nd overall and draft Suh?

Consider that it cost the Giants TWO 1st round picks + a 3rd to move up 4 spots to get Eli Manning from us.

I take offense with your refernece of Holier.....I wanted Blount.;) I still expect Matthews to work out well. He has a lot of promise...assuming he stays healthy.

Wasn't here, was living the digital clone wars at the UT. But my position at the time was invest the first in DL/OL and pick up a power back later.

Hummm...I really like what Tolbert has done. I also live in Oregon and watched Blount week after week shread defenses. He will have more big runs than Tolbert. But Tolbert can be a good FB and RB mix...So, with Mathews on the team, I like Tolbert over Blount. If we did not have Matthews, I would pick Blount over Tolbert.

I was the first person to ever love Mr. Blount and begged AJ to draft him. It's true. Look it up on his Wikipedia page.

It wasn't just one game, he has 941 yards on only 182 carries for the season. He will likely have 1000 yards this season.
