Should Hairston be the 2008 everyday left fielder or 2nd baseman for the San Diego Padres?

By the way, for those who don't know, Hairston came up through the minors as a 2nd baseman, hence the option.

    I'm write-less

    shocked,

    What happened????

How is it that we have played in big games at the end of the season and Hoffy/Peavy forget how to pitch!!!

    :icon_evil: :icon_evil:

PS. If the Pads can sign him on the cheap then, yes,

    Hairston should start

I don't know how he is defensively as a 2nd baseman. His play in the outfield was pretty shaky at times, but I like the kids upside. I'd like to see him in the starting lineup in either of those spots. I guess which one would depend on what else the team does in the off season.

Hairston has utility written all over him which wasn't an option...

He is fast, descent stick and can hold is own at best in the OF...Obviously he isn't much at 2 bag as he wasn't there... Blummer is a poor defensive 2 bagger but has a plus approach at the plate. M. Giles, is a very good 2 bagger, but his stick is made of foam.

unless we can find a clear upgrade over him at LF keep him there starting (and no milton bradley is NOT a clear upgrade). CF is a bigger concern right now given Petco's space

I figured that was covered under "4th OFer/bench"

I guess I should have been more specific, though.

and if Tim Stauffer and Darrell May could've pitched, they'd be in our rotation

    big whoop
As of right now Giles is in RF, Hairston is in LF
Fukudome I assume will be in CF unless we trade for Crisp or someone.
Unless we can come up with a CLEAR improvement on either (Bradley, Sledge don't count), we keep them there

I want Andruw Jones to play center for us next year, but then again I want 100 billion dollars too.

The big difference between Stauffer/May and Bradley is that Bradley has a but ton of talent.

It's an insult to bunch him in with them two.

Injuries are the only thing that's preventing Milton from being a star. (ok, that and a bad attitude, but the injuries stand in his way 1,000x more)

Tim Stauffer and especially Darrel May aren't going to be stars because, well, they suck

Unfortunately you are not the only one who wants a billion dollars, which is why Andruw Jones won't be playing in center field for the Padres.
