<img src="http://bolttalk.com/images/merriman11.jpg" class="left" alt="Shawne Merriman" />Shawne Merriman likes to think of himself as a game-changer. Anybody who saw the Chargers rookie outside linebacker take over the game Sunday in Indianapolis would be hard-pressed to disagree.

Merriman's seven tackles and two sacks set the play-making tone for the Chargers against the undefeated Colts and announced his arrival as the league's newest defensive force.

"This defense lets me attack, attack, attack,'' said Merriman by phone Monday night, after a day of basking in wide-spread acclaim for his breakthrough performance against Peyton Manning and Co. "It allows me to be the aggressor and use my speed and my ability to find the ballcarrier. But there's still a lot more I can do. I'm not satisfied. I'm only touching the tip of the iceberg. I figure anybody drafted as high as I was [12th overall].... I was brought in to be a game-changer. That's my role.''</blockquote>
