If this wasn't the Lions we're talking about, I'd say they were leaking this information to squeeze the Buccaneers for all they're worth.

But this is the Lions so...

Maybe the Lions have finally figued out what they're doing wrong and will use their own past of stupidity to their benefit this year by making Tampa panic into thinking, "you know, the Lions might just be stupid enough..."

How hard is it to remember who the mole John Clayton works for? I thought you were the expert.

Lions will take CJ ONLY if there's no trade and if the Bucs don't want him bad enough.

If the Bucs offer a second this year and Simeon Rice they'll pry CJ from the Lions

What can I say? I just spaced it.

I actually made my pick in Round 3 and told Carrie to pick for me today since I am at work and don't have time to figure out who is still available.

CJ would ironically enough be a fantastic pick and he's coming out higher and thought of to be safer then any WR in the last seven years +

    1. Calvin Johnson
    2. Damyieon Hughes/Marcus McCauxley
    3. Buster Davis

That's a very good first day's draft for the Lions

Yeah, well...except for the fact they have John Kitna at QB and a mediocre offensive line...

Kitna put up great numbers despite that line last year not to mention with Foster, Mutilato and that other guard from the Titans (pilfner?) they're line isn't as 'bleeding' or as poor as it was last time around

Kitna was sacked 63 times, so obviously there's some leakage in that line somewhere. He also threw more INT's than TD's. It's not that hard for a decent QB to throw for 4,000 yards when he's putting the ball in the air 600 times. Besides, he'll be 35 when the season starts. Just about the time Calvin Johnson gets settled in as a receiver Kitna will be retiring or just too old to play.

CJ's a guy you get when you have a young QB for him to build a relationship with or when you have a team that's ready to make a push. The Lions are neither. IMO, Detroit should draft Brady Quinn at #2 or else move down with the Buccaneers and get those extra picks. To me getting CJ would just be totally representative of their half-assed efforts at rebuilding. Sometimes you have to junk it and just move to full-on rebuilding--and that's something that can start with moving down a couple spots in a trade with a team that's desperate like the Bucs. Let Tampa Bay make the mistake of thinking a WR can fix an offense that's built on a bad foundation. Meanwhile, you take your extra picks and re-build your own foundation.
