Looks like we'll have our number one redzone threat back this week. Even if they don't give him too many carries, he'll help us out down inside the ten.

That's true. I should be able to hold my breath for a couple of minutes.

Sorry... I really do hope for the best. But LT is breaking down. It just sucks to watch him go out like this.

It's a big game. LT and Merriman should both play.

Who says he's going out? Ankle injuries, turf toe, normal injuries that happen to rookies from time to time. I don't remember any season ending knee injuries.

Merriman, no. He is still gimpy and slow off the edge. He needs to get healthy. English will do fine.

Having LT out there would be good, but ONLY if he is 100%. I don't want him to get out there and "re-tweak" that ankle.

How is getting his ankle rolled up on breaking down?

It's like getting punched in the mouth and blaming the loss of tooth on bad oral hygene.

These guys won't be at 100% during the season, so I say play them. Especially because this is an AFC matchup and because it's the Steelers.

I wouldn't risk playing LT this week, hell, the Stillers will go after his ankles and that wouldn't be good.

Screw that, it ain't like he's the fine china to only be brought out when the preacher comes for dinner.

If he's healthy to practice, play him. Winning this game would be a BIG moral victory for our guys & go a long way towards boosting everyone's confidence.

If we have to worry about handling him with kid gloves, then maybe his time as a Charger has come. That's coming from as big of an LT fan as you're likely to find.

You mean like when VJ suffered a rash of injuries his first two seasons and certain posters called him a poozy?

Just because he's practicing don't mean he's good enough to go or fully healthy. I'd rather have him down the stretch and i'm sure it will be a coaching decision by game time.

I'm totally on board with this assessment.

We need to win games, if LT can help then throw his butt in there

but, if he's full on healthy then let's get him in there.

No saving him for the playoffs at this point

I'm skeptical of any injury report from any NFL team or player. According to most reports Merriman was near 100% before the season started. After watching him in Oakland I would say he's closer to 80% than 100%.

If LT skips Pittsburgh he's got two solid weeks of rest. Give Bennet his reps. That's what we got him for. See if the OLine can get their collective act together. If they haven't yet then Bennet gets hammered agaist the Steelers D, not LT.

Considering the teams overall health status I won't turn my nose up at 2-2. But this game is not on LTs shoulders even if he does play. If our D can play their typical 2nd half game from the first kickoff then the Bolts should have a shot.

Most importantly LT needs to be ready to take on the Donkos. The season would go a lot easier if we could double up on them.

    Sit LT.

...or maybe he actually is okay.

    Wow! An actual football debate...

We have to establish a running game and that definitely doesn't have to revolve around LT with Sproles, Hester, and Bennett on this roster. RB by committee this week may be just the ticket with Sproles taking Steelers sideline to sideline and Bennett hitting them in the mouth. The cutback master LT is just plain a weapon and with a committee, those punishing hits will be divided up among the rest of them.

Furthermore, Tomlin and LeBeau will have to make huge adjustments depending on who's in and coupled with fatigue, this could be exactly what allows LT and Sproles to be the dynamic players we've all seen. I absolutely contend that a few touches for LT is all we need and we'll gain enough yards to be a running threat, making our brilliant and bold passing attack even more potent.

    Tl;dr
Play him but put the ball in all of the running back's hands and watch the magic.

No one said the game is on LT's shoulders.

We pay him star pay. If he can play, then get him out there.

No one said that someone said that the game is on LT's shoulders.

(Anyone want to go for, "No one said that no one said that someone said that the game is on LT's shoulders?")

Bit of an unfair statement. For the first 10 years of his career, LT was the most durable back in NFL history. Just because some fat bastard fell on his ankle in Oakland does not mean that he can't stay healthy. I look forward to seeing LT out on the field and being productive.

Yeah, there's a difference between 'healthy' and 'football ready'.

Sometimes writers and reporters confuse the two.

Agreed. We can sure use him. It will also open things up for Sproles.
