Sign LT for the 2012/13 season? I'm up for it, I talked with a few die hard Jets fans that I work with they said they've heard multiple sources saying he will not be back with the Jets next year, so would you guys take him back to finish his career?

I know I would could really help Mathews with his game a turn into a 3rd down backer..

    How so?

2010.. 15 games played, 13 games started, 219 attempts, 914 yards averaging 4.2 a carry, 52 receptions for 368 yards and 6 touchdowns.. this year he's been hurting, 1 game started in 12, 195 yards rushing 1 touchdown but 32 receptions for 390 yards.. I'd give him a two year deal..

Why not? if he's willing to take a pay cut like he did in NY why not offer him a two year 4 million? he'd be a 3rd down guy and great mentor to Mathews, Mathews has so much respect for him, the number 21 is still open ya think Dean didn't say to him when he left he can come back?

I'd give him the captain role as well.. he turned into a leader in NY and he can here, were not asking much from him..

So long as he doesn't expect to be paid (or used) as star RB and takes a salary requisite to his current abilities I'm all for it.

LT is always welcome back here as far as I'm concerned, but it won't happen as long as AJ is the GM.

    Ahhhh.......no thanks.

The reason he is done with the Jets is because he's finished, needs to go out with some dignity and just retire.

How exactly could he help Mathews by the way ?

Would it hurt us to have him as a 3rd down back?

I'd like to see him retire as a Charger. And I don't mean one of those pointless 1 day contract things.

The Chargers will sign him to a one day contract to allow him to retire a Charger, just as Seau did.

Yeah - let's eat up a roster spot for a guy we cut 2 yrs. ago. Especially since we traded UP to get his replacement & drafted another RB last year.

LT's time as a Charger is done unless it's one of those pointless 1 day things. Any other type of contract for him here would truly be pointless with regards to success for the team.

LT, the player, is not a good use of a roster spot at this point.

The Jets will almost certainly unload him, and the only chance
he has of continuing his career into the 2012 season is that some
bottom-dweller team hopes to create a little buzz by adding
"Future Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson" to their lousy roster.

Yes, I'd like to see LT retire as a Charger, but the ceremonial 1 day
thing makes a lot more sense than eating a roster spot for a whole year.

p.s. And anyone familiar with LT knows that he's more of a "lead by example"
kind of player. Fans expecting LT to be some intense mentor to Mathews
(or anyone else) are just not very familiar with LT's style...and, unfortunately,
he can't really "lead by example" any more.

Wow.. you guys show no respect for the man..

He was the best Chargers Running Back ever..

I believe he's willing to come back, any man that sheds tears after being cut deserves to come back, I mean, I know he's had character problems and what not but he was my favorite player, he deserves to be back for a season or two..

I think LT and Norv's relationship wasn't good, Norv will be out after this season and we can slide LT in..

we could use some of that, thats the game the Jets went in and beat New England..

This retort would make sense if I was suggesting to sign LT to replace that replacement.

But because smart teams only carry one running back on their roster I get your point.

I won't be mad if they don't sign him but if he still has something then why not? (I'm not saying he does. I'm not on the field scouting him)

Nope. He doesn't want to be here, we don't want him here, and our guys are better. He would add literally nothing and would be a waste of a roster spot. We'd be just as well off signing Tiki Barber. If he had as atrocious of a season as he has this year in NY with their (admittedly not as good as recent years) o line, imagine it here.

It's obvious he was under Norvitus for he's period here and was cured among joining the jets.

Has nothing to do with respect, its about winning games and moving on and YES he WAS the best Chargers running back ever, as in past tense, that can't help this team in the future.
I think because of the fact he was your favorite player may seriously be clouding your ability to judge LT objectively, he has nothing to offer this Charger's team anymore, those days are ancient history.

With all due respect, you and I evidently have very different ideas about how to field a competitive roster.

If LT had been willing to take a cut like that for us, he would not have been cut when he was.

Ryan Mathews is developing into a franchise RB, the last thing we need is him looking over his shoulder, and feeling like he's disrespecvting his childhood idol. Mathews & Tolbert work just fine, and I'm pretty sure that Ryan's carries will increase next season, and we don't need LT stealing any of them just for sentimental, but not productivity reasons.

Looking forward to the day when they put LT's name in the "Ring of Honor" at the stadium...but we have more pressing needs for the roster spot he would be taking up.

Remember LT when he was young and healthy and smile...don't get all misty eyed about bringing him back now...time marches on. (Do you really want to see him pulling a "Favre"?...No, I didn't think so.)
