After the the Chargers win the superbowl I wonder where Philip Rivers will rate on these top 10 lists...

I think its kinda BS that Aaron Rodgers has had 1 good season, no carrer playoff wins, and is ranked higher than Rivers. Rodgers had a top 5 defense last year too, Rivers carried this show, and in each of the last 2yrs has gotten some MVP votes.

They might be ranked the same (probably 95 or so) but the nod was given to Rodgers by the Fantasy Football monkeys.

No Jay Cutler? No ECry Manning? I guess the people at Madden realize those are the two most overrated QBs in the NFL.

Rating Rogers ahead of Rivers is ludicrous.

Other than Rodgers, that makes sense. I don't see why Aaron Rodgers, who has had one great season and one decent one and no post season success, would be ranked higher than the workhouse that is an MVP-worthy Philip Rivers. Oh well...

    embrace the hate

McNabb shouldn't be that high either. 8? Is the league really that shallow at QB?

While I agree Rivers should be ranked ahead of Rodgers, Rodgers has had two good seasons.

One good season and one decent season?

His two seasons as starter are practically identical save the W/L record, but that's a team stat.

As I said in the last post, Rivers should most definitely be ranked ahead of Rodgers but let's not downplay what Rodgers has done just to make that argument.

You can't count 2008 as a good season. They lost 7 of their last 9 and missed the playoffs (6-10), he played like a choking dog when the game was on the line but his stats ended up alright.

Stats are misleading, and thats where the fantasy football fans can distort the big picture.

Just because winning and losing is the big picture doesn't mean you can pin it all on one player in a team sport.

This is the NFL not the Punt, Pass, and Kick competition. It takes a team to win games, not one quarterback.

Exactly. They lost 7 of their last 9. THEY, not Aaron Rodgers, They.

Why is anyone worried about/arguing over "rankings" for a video game? :icon_rofl:
Next thing you know, you'll be arguing over Fantasy rankings! :icon_rofl:

Why do we need something like this to b!tch about? We have 40+ years of being Charger fans to b!tch about, not Madden or fantasy rankings! :icon_rofl:

Anything thread, having to do with Madden, fantasy or power rankings should be closed. I know you like to close threads. :icon_tease:

    Now, there's something to b!tch about! :icon_rofl::icon_tease:

I suppose we can just sit here and not post anything in the offseason because of its relative importance to actual games that don't start for another 4 months. :icon_shrug:

I went with option 2, argue about bullshit and not be bored. And I'd do it again!.

I actually think Romo has gotten pretty good. He's become a perennial 4000yd 25+TD guy, and he finally won a playoff game this year.

He goes ahead of Shaub because Shaub has never made the playoffs, and at this point has only had 1 good season.

Like I said........put it in the right forum.
I'm gonna start a political thread, here. How long do you think it will take for it to get moved? :icon_shrug:

I don't like the discussion in some of the Charger related threads, either. But I still read them. Fantasy football and Madden have nothing to do with the Chargers.

The difference between political discussion and Chargers discussion hardly compares to the difference between Madden rankings discussions (which includes ranking Philip Rivers) and Chargers discussion.

Fantasy rankings, however unreal they may be, still touch on the subject of football.

    Politics do not.

Anyway, here's the crux of it all.

When some entity, (be it a fantasy football site, a blog, a sports writer, Madden, or joe blow down the street with a Bolttalk account) ranks NFL quarterbacks, teams, and/or players via their medium they are essentially stating an opinion and making a claim.

In this instance, the makers of Madden, or whomever is in charge of the rankings of the game, made a claim that Aaron Rodgers is slightly better than Philip Rivers.

Therein lies your football discussion. A dispute of that claim.

If you don't want to partake in an admittedly meaningless discussion (as if there's any real meaning to any other discussion on these forums) then there are a plethora of other threads for you to open up. :icon_shrug:

    There's nothing to spin.

It's a gray area that would fit in either forum.

And, "right" forum or not, the fact still remains that if you don't like it there are plenty of other threads for you to open.
