ESPN The Magazine has ranked all 122 professional sports teams in the four major sports.

The AFC West didn’t do so hot.

Denver was the highest-ranked team in the division -- at No. 80. San Diego was right on Denver’s heels at No. 81. Kansas City was No. 95.

OK, Oakland fans, prepare to blow your top. Take a deep breath and try to relax. The Raiders were the lowest-ranked NFL team on the list, checking in at No. 115.

The magazine (remember, it’s not me so save the ire on this one) used eight different criteria in the formula to create the rankings. Categories included players, coaches, fan relations and stadium experiences.

What does this all mean? Not too much. Look, the NFL season starts in September. Each team in the AFC West has a chance to do good things. If so, they’ll move up in this ranking next year. If not, well, can it really get any worse?

Here's the list if any body cares...

ESPN "The Magazine" is best used for lining a bird cage or wiping your *** if you run out of TP.

Other then that, it has zero value.

    No birds, plenty of TP.

Guess that means I have absolutely no use for this rag.

Oh wait - if I shred it can I use it for kitty litter?

You can also use it in your fireplace or to fill in gift boxes so they don't rattle.

One thing being a fan of an NL West team in baseball has taught me is that once a division establishes itself as an overall crummy division it takes years to shake that reputation.

Case in point going back to my initial example: The NL West has 4 teams in contention for the playoffs. They have had at least 3 teams in contention for the playoffs every year for the past 5 seasons now.

But despite that people still talk about the NL West like it's a ****** division because the Padres won it with 83 wins a half decade ago.

No Padres? I remember going with my dad to Lane Field to watch the PCL Padres play. That would have been about 1952 till they joined the ML.
