    From Acee's blog:

The Chargers, needing depth at outside linebacker and clearly concerned about the immediate availability of Shawne Merriman, will sign Marques Harris today.

They worked out Harris in early Novemeber but did not sign him. Harris played for the Chargers from 2005-08 before being released last February. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers but was released in October.

Harris had eight sacks in four seasons with the Chargers, including 2.5 last year.

    I WANT BACKFLIPS!

In all seriousness tho - Marques is a good hard worker and likely some additional help on ST's not just OLB depth.

Wasn't Jyles Tucker IR'ed a couple weeks ago? The Bolts could obviously use the depth, at least in the short term.

So much for Clark then!?. Hopefully he does not sign with someone else ala Gartrell and we can get him back once Merriman comes back 100%. He was supposed to be something like Big Dom right. :icon_huh:

I always liked Marques even though I think he is on the small side when it comes to OLB. Hopefully 56 can get healthy cos I don't believe Marques is a long term answer.

Anyone got anything on the new DE?. :icon_shrug:

    Is this the same guy?;

To be fair, I live in the NY area, and the Giants brass is reluctant to give Gartrell any time despite the two-headed debacle of Jacobs and Ware currently in front of him (assuming Bradshaw is still on the shelf).

But more often than not, guys like Gartrell and Corey are able to be re-signed after some roster shakes, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Speaking of LBs just wondering how many of you out there might agree with me. I think Stephen Cooper is at best the 3rd best ILB on this team. I might even think of starting Siler and Dobbins now. Neither of em have been completely exposed on pass coverage and neither of em have been run over ala Cooper.

    What u say?. :icon_shrug:

I like this move! Harris is a sav, filled in very nicely in 06 when Merriman was out.

****... I can't remember now... Was it Cooper or Dobbins that looked so sharp against Peyton a year or two ago? Making all the right defensive adjustments to match Manning's audibles.

Yeah... that guy is a keeper in my book.

I think you know where I'm at with it, DB.

Put the green dot on Weddle.

    That was Cooper.
    Don't let it fool you.

Thank you. Then I must respectfully disagree Dublin! I'll take Cooper over Dobbins, but I favor brains over brawns.

    Weddle can be the brains.

We need heat-seeking, slobber-knocking missiles in the middle of this D for a change.

I really want to see some more of that kid getting game reps. This week would be just the time. All depends, I'd say, on whether the coaches decide we need more safety or OLB depth.

And Dobbins made the key sack on Peyton on 3rd down which gave us the ball back. We kicked a game-tying FG about 90 seconds later.

Marques Harris was the OLB that did backflips whenever he made a TFL or sack.

In defense of Coop - he's been fighting thru a knee injury for most of the season and hasn't been quite himself. We're really very fortunate to have such a solid group of ILB's in the mix funny how things change eh? :)

Even with that in consideration, Syd, we need more pop in the middle of this unit. I don't dislike Cooper - he's done some very good things for us - but I think that he should be on the 2nd line in our rotation of inside 'backers. I see him getting run over, taking bad angles, & arriving late far too often.

Nope, I missed the Giants game! I actually live in CT, so I am closer to Pats territory...but do that get me wrong, that just fuels my hatred even more because of their bandwagoner fans. Case in point, I was at the bar for MNF:

(Random bozo walks in with Wilfork jersey and parks himself next to me)
Random bozo: Yeeeeah! Pats number 1 fan in the house!
Me: You think their offensive line can hold serve with the Saints' pressure?
Random bozo: Yeah, Light and Warren are two of the best!
    Me: *awkward chuckle*

But I am all for a possible game on the East Coast...but I hope that the plans come next year, as if anything hapens this year, it means that we don't have home field.
