And the lion's will continue to blow for another 50 years. At what level does this guy have to play at to really be worth that money? I would only give that kind of money to Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. I don't think I even give Rivers that money or big Ben for that matter.

    Absolutely ridiculous.

They need to get this rookie wage scale thing fixed.

Jesus, for a noob? Seriously, get a cap before this gets truly out of hand. On another note, I like Stafford but I don't think he'll win Rookie of the Year or anything with the Lions. It really sucks that a guy like him will just have to try even harder than everyone else to prove himself because of the ****** situation he got thrown into. And to think there's a whole locker room in Oakland that has that thought every second...

NOBODY is the next Ryan Leaf. They broke the mold with that jerk. What this proves is that the league needs a rookie contract structure, slotted by draft position, with a higher minimum. The league will also need a rookie contract insurance policy that will kick in if there is an early career ending injury. The rest of the contract, for the first three years, will be enhanced by performance clauses that include make clauses. productivity on the field, behavior clauses, practice attendance, meeting and training session attendance and minicamp attendance. The contracts will have to higher than what the CFL gives out, for sure, but I have no idea what they pay.

In the CFL if you're making over $100k you're one of the top paid players in the league

As ridiculously ****** as the XFL was they had a great concept for pay scales.

Everybody made a standard salary depending on what position they played.

Now, that's a bit extreme, but I wouldn't mind seeing some kind of standardized scale of sorts.

Neither were most of those guys. Boz wasn't the #1 overall pick. Neither was Blair Thomas or Lawrence Phillips or Joey Harrington. And they are all featured in the pic.

Well, head of the Players' Union says no rookie salary cap. Serioulsy, I thought this is that one thing everybody could agree one despite any salary.Guess I was, sadly, dead wrong.

It is going to happen. My guess is 2011, making next year a strong draft class.
