our safeties suck and they know it...whats worse is that McCree says that he wouldn't do anything different and then explains that he would do something different:icon_huh:

Shouldn't these guys know how to play by now?:icon_shrug:

    Time to start Weddle damnit.
McCree and Harts picks are the only reason their starting, and all the picks were deflections!!!

Our boys need to find how to play with confidence. Once they get a couple under their belt, then they need to play with attitude. When that happens......we are back baby!!!! :icon_toast:

??? Strange, but I remember Merriman dominating last year, I haven't seen one "game changing" performance from him this year...he's not playing nearly as well as last year...wonder why?
Mcneill. Dielman? This O-line has sucked through the first four games...so yes, please go on.

The reason you are wondering why is because they have been using Merriman in pass coverage way more than they did last year. The stats bear out the facts on the blitzing plays, our OLB's rarely blitz at the same time. That might affect things don't ya think? Last year we sent them both and often. This year Cottrell is shoring up the pass defense by dropping Merriman in pass coverage. We have seen the results. The QB's have all day to throw the football and there is no secondary who can cover for 6-7 seconds. None.

If anything about our O-Line is the fact the entire right side sucks *** and that has not changed from last year. Now McNeill has a bum knee (or so the rumor mills are proporting).

Merriman's doing his best, but the rest of the defense (besides Jamal) needs to step up their ****.

Merriman has 8 solo tackles, three of which are for losses, 3 sacks, several pass defenses (bat downs), a helmet deflection of a pass that was INT'ed, and a forced fumble.

Shaun and Shawne are being ill used in this scheme of Cottrell's. He is using the four LBs as if he has an extra LB in a 4-3.

    Just bad...

You have two of the best pass rushers on the same team, both of which got double-digit sacks in about a dozen games, and you don't unleash them every play? :icon_huh:

Makes no sense to me, but hey Cottrell is the man who brings continuity. Who am I to argue with the Golden Calf AJ?:icon_shrug:

Our safety (McCree) is second on the team in tackles.

A fuc-king safety should not be in the top two in tackles on a team. It tells me the bastards up front are not doing their jobs.

    Wrong.

Safeties are almost always up there in tackles.

It would be the entire front 7. Pick anyone right now. Each one is limited in one way or another.

Jamal - hyper extended elbow - you know bent right before it snapped.

    Castillo - his foot sprain

Igor - well - he is slow and his groin

    Merriman - His shoulder

    Wilhelm - pffft

Phillips - about the only one not screwed up so bad it affects his game

Cooper - I like this dude.

The safeties are up there in tackles but they certainly should not be in a position to lead the team in tackles ....

If you think that is the case, then you are fugggged up in the football mind.

The WILB in a 3-4 should lead the team in tackles and then pick your next front defensive 7 person to lead the stats and then think about your safeties as a tackle leader. If you do not think in that progression, the front 7 defenders are not doing their jobs and you will be toast.

I never ever ever want to see our safeties vying for the teams lead in tackles - EVER.

Safeties should be vying for the team lead in passes defensed and INTs.

    Exactly.

Safeties should never be close to leading the team in tackles - EVER.

We went through this **** a bazillion times before where the secondary is leading the team in tackles and that is so fuc't up and even more fuc't up when fans applaud this fact as though it is some sort of achievement.

That is fuc-king crazy. Nuts. I want my goddamn LINEBACKERS leading the team in tackles and not my last line of defense (a safety).

Even better would be the DL leading the team in tackles.

    Amazing.

It is hard for the DL or LBs to lead in tackles when the majority of plays against us are passes.
