The Chargers' rookie tackle was born to sweat. He stands 6 feet 7"½, carries 336 pounds and has chosen a career path that involves repeated collisions with other massive men.

On a good day, training camp is a grind for the grunts in the trenches. Yet it is balmy bliss in San Diego compared with the Alabama afternoons to which McNeill is accustomed. There, preseason football is tantamount to legalized torture.</blockquote>
