Speaking as his former backer here on the board, I have been an igor fan since he was drafted. Always thought the highest of him, thought he was good at what he did and was improving steadily. I know for a fact though that few people in the media spoke highly of him. He was raw, under-developed (in terms of skills), a one trick pony etc. Might've been shown by a poor year he had. So he enters free agency, its obvious the Chargers don't want to bother with him.

    So what happens?

    14. Igor Olshansky, DE, Chargers: The hulking run stuffer is a proto-typical 3-4 defensive end. He plays stout against the run, freeing up linebackers by occupying multiple blockers at the point. Though Olshansky shows limited pass rush skills, he is a high motor player who falls into a few garbage sacks each year. With sturdy defensive ends valued at a premium, Olshansky is coveted by teams utilizing a 3-4.
(Ahead of Matt Birk, Kerry Collins, Bryan McFadden, Ron Bartell, Jeff Saturday, and Yeremiah Bell among others).

14? Out of the top 25 fa's on the market?? Serious?

    Here's Pete Prisco

    11. Igor Olshansky, DT, San Diego Chargers: He's a solid 3-4 end who can hold up against the run. Can he play inside in a 4-3 defense is the big question.
(HE'S AHEAD OF HOUSHMANZADAH, RAY LEWIS, KURT WARNER, SEAN JONES, CHRIS MCALLISTER, ETC)

Does anyone remember igor getting ANY love like this before? What the hell?

This is why AJ wont sign any FA this year

because of so many teams moving to a 3-4, many teams will get into a bidding war for an experienced, young DE like Igor and he will sign a much bigger deal than people are expecting, and since he will sign a big money deal, and will likely start all 16 games next year (barring injury), AJ will just think to himself that if he doesnt sign anyone, we will receive a high comp pick next year
