Melvin Ingram cleared to resume practice
By Michael Gehlken NOV. 11, 2014

Melvin Ingram is expected back on the practice field Wednesday.

This week, the Chargers opened a 21-day window in which the outside linebacker is eligible to practice. He'll be activated onto the 53-man roster no later than that period's completion — otherwise being placed on season-ending injured reserve — and as early as Saturday, possibly playing Sunday against the Raiders.

Ingram (hip) went on injured reserve with a designation to return on Sept. 20.

That required him to miss at least six weeks of practice and eight weeks of game time. Whether Ingram plays Sunday will be known by Saturday. That is the latest the Chargers can move him to the 53-man roster for him to be active in the game.

The 2012 first-round pick totaled eight quarterback hurries the first two weeks, tied for the NFL lead. He totaled six tackles with a strip-sack during a Week 2 win over the Seahawks. While he was limited by a hamstring strain, a hip injury surfaced in the coming days, and an MRI later in the week revealed he'd miss extensive time.

Ingram missed the past seven games. Inside linebacker Manti Te'o (foot) has missed the past six. Both very well could practice Wednesday for the first time since.

Mathews and Melvin back, this is pretty huge. Hopefully Attaochu and Teo are ready soon as well.

That's a lot of time to miss...hope Melvin gets back up to physical speed quickly and doesn't have any mental lapses during the game.

Hip could effect his fluidity. Hope I'm wrong and I hope he's 110%.

Doesn't anything working above 100% capacity cause its rapid demise? #imjustsaying ;)

Would it be amazing if getting these linebackers, plus RM, helped us return to early season form?
If we can handle, not just get past, the raiders and the rams, and avoid another injury plague, we should be ready to run the end-of-the-season gauntlet.

    RM healthy
    Freeney feeling better
    Attaochu a full participant
    Ingram a full participant
    Flowers ready to roll

The chargers made their crazy run last year when they got back guys like Royal, Dunlap and Ingram. Could happen again

I am skeptical about any run. We cant stay healthy. The last 3 games I attribute more to injuries as opposed to any sudden breakdown in player abilities or game planning.

Of course if TT does not address the OL VERY soon we are in serious trouble.

He has been addressing it, a first round and third round in two drafts. There are only so many high draft picks available.
