Insurance premiums just went up. This is not an easy car to steal. I hope his Phillippe Patek wasn't in it.

It must have been a fan of another team. Why would you steal an expensive car like that and then burn it? Stealing it is stupid too cause i am sure it had lojack.

Actually, it makes me wonder about his off the field activities. Hopefully it was random.

Do you wonder about Sean Taylor's?

Expensive things are targeted and they dont care who owns them. Maybe they saw something in the car that told them whose it was and is why they burned it instead :icon_shrug:

Makes the most sense. Fencing Merriman's car would be tough. If these guys were pros, it would have been in a chop shop, but unless the car was left open, how would anybody but a pro steal this car. It ain't like hot wiring a '57 Chevy.

Not all thieves use logic, but I am sure when you plan and steal an 185k Benz you must have a plan.

I guess it will come out what part of town was the car stolen from.

Was it stolen from a bad part of town ? If so, what was Merriman doing down there ? :icon_huh:

It was actually reported as a $187k car.

I doubt we'll hear much more about this in the news.

Don't know if he was in a rough area. But Merriman's (quietly) been doing a lot of voluteer work at shelters. Don't have the link, but I think a piece ran in the SDUT last season. He didn't want to talk about it much, IIRC. I do remember him saying that his family was homeless twice in his life so that's why he's been doing that type of volunteer work.
