If Wes Welker is worth a 2nd and 7th... What is Turner worth? I know different positions...but sheesh!

I don't know. I'd be fine it he's dealt, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if we held on to Turner this season.

So if we dont deal turner, after next season, we pretty much lose him for nothing?

If we keep him this year/season contract will be up and we get no compensation for him, correct.

Im in favor of getting a 1st and a 3rd for him rather then even having him for this season.

I cant imagine what AJ would do with SIX first day picks!:icon_toast:

He is going to play a big part of this season. Every super bowl team loses a key component to there winning team. So it looks like its going to be MT next year.

Turner and Phillips were our biggest free agents going into next season. We locked up Phillips. Maybe there's the possibility we even franchise Turner next year if we have the available cap space in an attempt to trade him, assuming Turner displays another great year in backup duty. Kinda risky and pricey, but I wonder if that's an option with the FO.

Yeah but next year we wont get anything for him. I say cut our enevitable losses now and get while the gettin' is good.

Say we get a pick for him somewhere in the top 20. We could have our pick of guys like Jarrett, Meachem, Nelson, and maybe even Landry!
And then draft another need at 30.

Won't we get a compensation pick, a la Brees? I know it depends on what we do in free agency, and how turner does for his team, but best case scenario he could net us a 3rd pick in a couple years. Rather trade him now.

Thats retarded. We need to get more then a 3rd rounder for Turner. Personally I think AJ could swing a 1st rounder for Turner strait up once he decides to wave his magic wand.

    No.

The Chargers will get a compensatory pick from the NFL which can be no higher than the bottom of the Third Round.

So we get something but it depends on a formula.

Yes we will....just like Brees but it could be a lower round as well....like a high 4th....versus bottom of the 3rd.

Say we don't move MT this year and somehow AJ gets him signed during next season with a trade clause??? just a wild thought.

Not to mention it would be better to develope LT's backup with LT one year younger than one year older. We need to trade him. Draft another back sometime after the third round to compete with Perkins,Pinnock and Sproles for backup duties.

Turner deal, if it comes, will come on gameday when the guy a team wanted drops off the board before they got to pick. they will kick us the 1st and 3rd and AJ will go to the draft pick board bestowed on him by the Archangel Michael and find the next pro-bowler on the list.

I think any running back that would turndown starter money to sit behind the best player in the entire NFL is a freakin moron for signing a contract like that.
It will never happen, not even AJ is good enough to keep Turner.

I say we get nothing less then a 1st rounder for him now, and sign a guy like Jamal Lewis or TJ Duckett for a 1 year cheap deal.

The comp picks are at the end of the rounds, so it wouldn't be a high 4th. They are always just added on to the end of each round, using some strange formula that always puts the Donkeys on top.
