Adam Schein on Sirius NFL radio just mentioned we may be taking a look at Mike Doss. Thoughts? A little undersized but he's a smart player and can make some plays.

Didn't say where his info came from.

Not sure about his abilities or if he's a good fit but he is a good dude. When we were playing the Colts last year LT's helmet got popped off in the pile and Doss covered up LT's head and protected him from any hits.

I think he's worth taking a look at. But amongst all MTLs lists of safties we ought to pursue I've not seen his name, so I'm probably wrong. :icon_shrug:

Why exactly are the Colts getting rid of Doss?

I like Doss too, as a player, when healthy. But he's got some character issues (felony weapons charge in '05) and injury problems.

I'd give him a look - he has some talent - but I wouldn't break the bank to bring him here.

Doss is coming off an ACL tear from last season - game 6, I believe. Besides that, he's been on the Colts injury list damn near every game for one thing or another since he came into the NFL.

Didn't he also have concussion issues at Ohio State?

Yeah...because we really should be paying an average safety like he's one of the three best in the league at his position. No thanks.

He just said he "has heard" that we're looking at him. Didn't say where he heard it - so take it for what it's worth.

The Colts didn't dump him, he had a out in his contract and decided to go FA by voiding the 5th year of his contract.

Yeah, we should have paid Grant instead of Dielman perhaps, since they received a similar amount of money.

Grant is average and he got 12 mil guaranteed and 5 mil a year. That's ridiculous.

You're claiming that Grant is average, and you're saying that we should've paid Grant over Dielman who is one of the ELITE guards of this league?

You're basically saying it would be smarter to overpay for Grant than it was to underpay (compared to what he would have gotten if he skipped town) for Dielman.

I was being sarcastic towards the person that said we should have signed Grant.

    For the record:

    1. I would not have signed Grant for 5mil per year.

    2. The Dielman signing was the best of the offseason.

Unfortunately, there isn't a sarcasm emoticon.

...and was a long time Charger hater until he jumped on the bandwagon halfway thru this season.

He still and always has been an AJ hater though.

He and Solomon Wilcots (and Jim Miller) seem to find any reason to bash AJ. Fugg' 'em all ....

Oh ... and they are Donna lovers too.

What will heavily influence this decision is twofold

    1. What safeties are going to be avaliable (is Merriweather and Griffin going to go earlier then 30)
    2. Are there safeties in other rounds of day 1 that would work equally as well?

Doss? Torn ACL and oft injured since Ohio State days?

Hamlin? Steel plate in his head from getting whacked at a night club.

    No thanks to either.
