FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- Wide receiver Randy Moss and three linebackers are not at the New England Patriots practice.

Coach Bill Belichick declined to comment on their absence. According to the Providence Journal's Web site, Moss and linebackers Adalius Thomas, Gary Guyton and Derrick Burgess showed up late to an 8 a.m. team meeting and were sent home.

A moderate snowfall slowed traffic in the area Wednesday morning.

Tom Brady also was not spotted during the media availability period, but he had a good reason: His supermodel wife gave birth to a baby boy on Tuesday. Brady said he and wife Gisele Bundchen have not yet picked out a name.

The Patriots, who have lost three of their last four games, play at home Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Debilitating, IMO, as it goes against the idea of team unity that has seemed to be embraced by the Patriots for the entire decade. However, it appears that bellichick is now choosing his "favorites" and the players themselves are clearly not on the same page as one another or their coach.

    Brilliant.

And for the record, I live in New England, and the snow was HELL to drive through today...and I live 5 minutes from my workplace.

The team is a disaster right now.

Belichick held the team in the locker room 2+ hours after the game, which never happens. He ripped them a new one.

Their success has made the coach soft, so, I think he's changing his tune. We'll see if it works.

I picked them to be 10-6 at the beginning of the season.....looks like I'm right on track.

Why was it that the rookies found a way to get to the meetings on time, and some of the veterans were late?

If someone knows that the roadways are clogged up, don’t you think one would leave earlier to accommodate the traffic.

In their defense, the roads were ridiculously slippery yesterday morning. The snow began falling around 6:00 in the morning and the road conditions went bad very quickly....too quick for the plows. We had a meeting in Boston and a co-worker of mine had to come from the area around the stadium. A commute that normally would take him 45 minutes took him 3 hours.

Regardless, I like that Bill is tightening the ship up.

And do what with them? Award them to the losers of the Super Bowl those years?

    Yeah, that makes sense.

if there are 52 members on a team, 48 of them made it. Did any of those have to travel further?

yup, the wheels are falling off the wagon, and it looks like Belichick is doing everything within his power to stop it.

Doesn't make the Rams, Panthers, or Eagles Super Bowl winners.

If I were a Panthers or Eagles fan I'd hate for my team's only Super Bowl "victory" to come as a result of an after the fact change of hands of the trophy because the team that really won got caught doing what every team does.
