I was camping last year in Baja with a few buddies, and this was a campfire topic that I didn't really have an answer to. Music is so personal that the question doesn't have a right answer, just an opinion of what moves you. Different phases of life, different tastes, whatever. As of today (4-20-07), this is my list of the top five greatest albums ever in no particular order:

    1. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here. My top 5 will ALWAYS have PF
in it. In my opinion the greatest band ever. This was a tough call between this and The Wall, but this one wins out on the merits of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" alone. Best rock and roll song ever.

    2. Metallica - ...And justice For All. Too many fans of Metallica are too roped into "Ride The Lightning", but AJFA is the absolute ****, and recorded before Hetfield and Ulrich became complete sell out sluts. Amazing album.

    3. Run DMC - King of Rock. The first true bridge that combined hip hop and rock. Great album.

    4. Beatles - Abby Road. Mostly because I had one of the greatest acid trips EVER with this going on Christmas Eve one year way back in the mid 90's. The medley rules.

    5. Jerry Garcia Band - Almost Acoustic. Live performance that is just straight up amazing. As a former GD fan, this album reminds of when I saw Jerry in Tahoe where we had to ride the gondola to get to the show. SICK. Especially in the "right" frame of mind.

    What are yours?

I can't begin to put them in an order but here goes.

    Queen: Queen II

Social Distortion: Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell

    Lou Reed: New York

    Flogging Molly: Drunken Lullabies

    David Bowie: Space Oddity

And I'd probably rework the list to include this one
    Grateful Dead: Dead Set
it best captures the essence of my live dead experience.

B4L, we need to hit up a few concerts here in town. You and I definately have similar musical tastes, and my cousin can get us into the HOB downtown whenever I want to catch a show.
