I know its really early guys, but I really like this guy!
He's big, fast, has good hands, breaks tackles, and plays nearly every skill position.

How is anyone going to stop us when LT gets on the field, and we stop farting around with stupid reverses?

the reverse is a useful thing to do when you have quick receivers, it just had bad luck this time

    Naane was impressive today

Reverses, misdirections, fake pitches with a rollout pass....they're the bread and butter of Turner's offense. Very common but very effective. They're quite vanilla compared to what he has in store for the upcoming season.

I remember us using these plays quite a bit before Brees showed up (Flutie did it pretty well) and with Alex Smith when Turner was OC with the Niners.

    Oldie Out

The reverse was a great call. If Davis hadn't of dropped the damn thing it would have gone for huge yardage.

Had he not fumbled that handoff, he had a TON of room to run. Should we stop throwing when we get picked off?

I agree, Davis holds on to that ball, big play ensues.

Legoland Naanee looked good, as did the rest of the kids, esp. Weddle, big time INT.

McCree blew the coverage on the Branch touchdown. Jammer did what he could. A guy like Weddle would have been there for Jammer. Weddle is a gamebreaker. His hands are like glue. Hanestly guys Hart Jue and McCree... most of the time you don't even know they're on the field, they are invisible players. Weddle is a guy who is in on the action all the time. Anyone who thinks Hart is better than Weddle is on crack (*cough*Trumpie*cough*). Hart doesn't have the skills and the smarts.

Yes, Naanee looked good, so did Weddle, but Sproles looked like he was on fire!! He's really going to help out on 3rd down this year. Floyd looked good also.
The first team on the first 2 drives looked pitiful. Out of sync at times, looking rusty, compared to the Seahawks first team looking very good against our first team defense. I have no doubt they will work out the kinks by opening day. After all, LT wasn't even on the field.

Sproles is going to sub in for LT on 3rd downs? He can back up Turner on 3rd downs, but I still want my money on LT as our main 3rd down guy. If for no other reason his blitz pickups are much better then either Turner or Sproles.

I would like to see Sproles get a look in the slot some. There where good reports of him in the slot last TC, so it would be nice to see if he can add anything there. He can earn a roster spot as a RB/return guy, but if he is going to have a role that allows him to contribute it is as likely to come from the slot as anywhere, since we can get him into space.

Weddle is a prime gamer. A football player. Same for Sproles, Weddle and Naanee. I never read much into a first exhibition game.

Agreed. I think Legoland is the real deal. I liked Weddle a lot since he's a ball hawk and Chandler who is a big mofo with good hands. Davis looked good, wasn't too pissed about the reverse since it's PS. I think we have yet another solid group of rooks once again from AJ and his scouting team. Sproles did impress, and I hope he makes it, but he could get squeezed out of a numbers game here. Osgood could be the odd man out but I know AJ likes him for his ST ability. Someone has got to go though. We can't keep everyone. Wouldn't be surprised if Osgood or Sproles get cut. There's simply too much talent now and so many spots.

Well that always seems to be the problem doesnt it?
    "Had he not fumbled"......
I could write a novel based on those 4 words in relation to the Chargers.

that reverse looked like it was headed for a big gainer before davis fumbled it.

nanee is going to add something good to the offense. made a few very good catches. can break tackles, too.

The thing I really like about naanee is he seems solid. He looks strong and he's fast and he has good hands. Not bad stuff. Plus he acts smart and seems to want to work hard.

Now if jackson would come off his high cloud and get his sheet together. Very stupid holding on the block downfield. And him not securinng the ball over the middle of the field wasn't too wise. And then they pan a shot of him yucking it up on the sidelines a bit later. Guys got to get his sheet together. Very pizzed at how lackadaisical he's acting.

If leisure were here, he would be jumping all over the fact "he coined" this name and I would have to be searching back for posts to prove I was the first to use it.

So I call the patent rights to Legoland Nanu-nanu or any reasonable faxsimile. :icon_twisted:

Coined here at Bolttalk.com while I was between beer number 7 and 8 because I was not about to look up the spelling of his name so efff it - Legoland was born.

An inspiration thanks to hops and hemp. :icon_rofl: No kidding !!!

Point was is that the call was a good one where some /most are blaming the play called as to why it failed and i dont get that.

Remember, Nanee can also pass too. He came into Boise St as a QB and left as a WR.

Nanee gives Norv lots of ideas to toy around with ;)

Sproles can help us on 3rd and LONG, not really 3rd and SHORT. Put him and L.T. in on 3rd and 8, 3rd and 15, etc. That will give the defense something to think about when they line up against us.

AJ drafts football players, not stats. Football players don't always get the gawdiest college stats and they don't always bug eyes out at the combine, but not all glittering college stat sheets mean a guys a football player. When Mr. Smith Goes to the Draft, he can tell the sheep from the goats. Naanee, Davis and Chandler didn't come with reams of paper, just the ability to play football they way it's supposed to be played. That went for Eric Parker, Chris Dielman, VJ, Malcolm, Hardwick, Manu and LoNeal when he grabbed them, too. It also went for Eli, Vick, Ricki Williams, Robert Gallery and other notable underacheivers. He just knows how to pick 'em. Bet he would have stayed out of Iraq, too.
