Nate Kaeding goes 4 for 4 and scores all of our points in the ACFCG and hits one over 40 yards.

The playoff gorilla has been lifted.

    Props to you :icon_toast:

I am not so sure about that. We were not in a game winning situation.

Nate tried to kick a couple of those wide right, but the collective karma of Charger fans everywhere stopped it from drifting out. Good game Nate, even though I wish we didn't have to use you...............

He did, I'll give Nate props. Too bad our offense wasn't healthy and couldn't get it done.....:icon_sad:

He may not have kicked a game winner but consider "if" the offense score at least one TD - Nate is seen as a god or at least Coco the gorilla is not humping his playoff leg anymore.

My biggest problem with Nate was kicking off. We should have made Rayner active, because Nate really put us in a bad spot a couple of times. New England got the ball at the forty, and that can really hurt.

We weren't in a game situation when he missed in the prior 2 games eithers. Get the X off of his face in your signature -- no kicker is perfect. Get over it and move on. If it weren't for him, how many points would we have had today?

If/when he kicks a clutch FG in the playoffs then he will redeem himself. The pressure was not on him this time. When it is, then wide right shows it's ugly face. Sorry it will take me some time to get over the missed playoff FG's

He kicked a 23, 26, 24, and 40 yard FG. Not really impressive.

When you add up Nates clanks, the only one which sticks in a craw should be (and marginally) the Jets playoff loss.

The 54 yarder that Nate did not make against the Patriots last year was out of the dudes range.

Other than those two kicks plus a clank in the Colts game, the dude has been nails.

His regular season record is tops in the league IIRC.

It's positive, but that's his job, I am not a huge Keading fan, his KO'fs are lame though. I would not mind another Kicker IMO.

Did you notice Sci-fis punts were affected as well?

I think the injury to Nate was more severe than the team alluded. They did say it was like LoNeals injury and that dude had a busted leg. Not much more was made of this comment (curiously).

Yeah, I saw that, he was nowhere near being the same type he was last week. But weather aside Nate's leg on KO'fs have never been his strong suit even in perfect weather. Nate's a nice player but IMO his KO'fs are a detriment to our team and we should find a way of addressing again, remember we drafted Kurt Smith from Virginia a few years back just to be a KO specialist. I know AJ is aware. He know's what's up.

Prior to the injury, Nate was having a great year kicking off. He might not kick it the highest or the deepest, but he's great at directional kicking, which is every bit as important. Norv and Crosby have repeatedly lauded Nate this year for his kickoffs.

In good conditions it may not be out of his range but it was rainy and it was a rushed attempt. I didnt like ouor chances of making that kick last year.

As someone mentioned earlier. The bottom line is Nate did everything he was ask to do in the fieldgoal game. All 12 points scored by the Bolts came off of Nates leg.

We'll need Nate next year so I am glad that he got the gorilla off his back.

Get healthy, Nate, and work on those kick-offs in the offseason.

    Serioulsy, Corona

I'm sure you were one of the first ones posting here last week talking about "yet another playoff choke" when Kaeding missed the FG last week in a non game winning attempt

If you say the 4/4 today doesn't matter then you can't fault him for that.

Doesn't matter, not so great conditions, and he still nails all 4 FG's.

Props to Nate. He just needs to do kickoffs ALOT better:tup:

If he put in a situation next season where he has to make a game winning field goal... HE'LL MAKE IT!!!!

He has made 71-80 in his 3 year career, and is now 6-10 in the post season. So he's not a bust as you seem to indicate.

I'm not sold on Kaeding until he can consistently make high-pressure kicks within 45 yards.

I know, it isn't his fault that he hasn't had many opportunities, but I still need to see him do it.

That doesn't worry so much as his distance. In last years playoff game he had a 54 yarder to tie and came up woefully short. If he fires wide fine... but at least then you've got a chance that a magical puff of wind blows its through or the ball tails off its spin.

Kickoffs same thing. I would like to see him find the goal line with more consistency.
