From what I have been able to find, his leg got rolled onto in camp prior to the Seahawks game. They thought he could return to practice on the 20th, but he was unable to go.

This is a typical lineman injury for camp, but it also speaks well of him in my opinion due to the fact that he was unable to practice or play for the three preseason games and was still IR'ed.

Kyle had an outstanding football career at Youngstown State. He was a wide receiver and punt returner who set a school record with a reception in 30 consecutive games. He also ranked ninth in school history with 101 career catches; 11th with 1,536 receiving yards and third with 56 punt returns and 377 punt return yards. As a senior, he was a team captain and selected as the team's Most Valuable Player. After his senior season, Kyle was invited to participate in the 2006 Hula Bowl all-star game in Hawaii. After the 2006 NFL Draft, he signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings. Kyle was waived by the Vikings in July, and in January 2007, he signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay allocated Kyle to NFL Europa, where he played for the Berlin Thunder as a wide receiver and punt returner. He was the team's leading punt return man with seven returns for 59 yards (8.4 avg.) with a long of 25 yards.

Tampa Bay released several players on Monday afternoon, including wide receiver Chad Owens (Reinhold Matay)

The Buccaneers released nine players, including WRs Jovon Bouknight, Kyle Smith and Chad Owens, C/G Jonathan Clinkscale, T Jabari Levey, C Nick Mihlhauser, FB Zach Tuiasosopo and DEs Tim Jones and Jeremy Pittman, from their roster on Monday afternoon. The Bucs must release two more players by 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

For now he is out of football.

What is up with Don Coryell and has there been any talk of him getting on the HoF ballot? Which he rightfully deserves.

The Chargers have never, to my knowledge, in the last four or five years been truthful about injuries. Kudos to Conc. Do you remember a gifted rooke Linebacker named Mike Guendling?

I would love to see that. We have the talent, we have the coaches, and we have a soft spot right in the middle of our season to help push us towards it.

We have a good chance. We have focused players.

I would not say they are not truthful. I think like AJ they hold theor cards close to their vest. Unless it is a big name player it is difficult to find injury information on. I had to look at when the injuries were first reported (a few days prior to the Seahawks game) and such. It took some research to put the timeline together.
