What is the bias? Who benefits other than those quarterbacks who get hit like this in the future?

Brady had a season ending injury, and the Patriots didn't make the playoffs. Where's the plus to the Patriots organization?

Your thread title is misleading. All quarterbacks have been protected under this rule. You may not like the rule, but to imply the Patriots have somehow gained an advantage because of it is hogwash.

I think we are just saying that the ONLY reason this happened is because it was Brady. I firmly believe that had it been Tarvaris Jackson or Tyler Thigpen, it would have been ignored as "**** happens."

But the other rule change to save East coast teams some travel hassles is complete bullshit designed to help out a handful of teams, while completely ignoring that West coast teams have to go coast-to-coast more often. The poor Patriots and Jets had to go to the West coast TWICE!!! Oh my God, it must be fixed NOW! Meanwhile, the Chargers went to Miami, Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, and oh yeah, LONDON.

Yeah, it can't be helped due to there being more teams on the East coast, but why is the NFL so concerned that the Patriots and Jets have to go to the West coast twice? It wreaks of coddling the East coast teams.

Not sure how much "protection" Brady gets froma 15 yard penalty. He still would have had his knee blown out.

I think both Bellichek and Brady should have to start every season by getting hit hard in the knee with a video camera.
they can call it the karma rule.:tounge:

I don't think it's biased. If the rule is passed and not enforced across the board, then scream bias all you want.

Sometime you guys read into things way too much.

You're right, of course. But is there any doubt that Goodell is OWNED by Kraft? 3 out of 5 rule changes involve the Pats being named in the decision? The east coast team travel rule is rediculous.

Exactly, look at what happened to Carson Palmer against the Steelers in the playoffs a few years back. Very similar hits with the defender falling into the QB's knee. Not a peep from the NFL about a rule change then, but because Boy Wonder gets his blown out we must immediately change the rule.

...Exactly! The Brady Rule is still a form of coddling even if the rule benefits every QB. Think back a few years when Carson Palmer was knocked out very early on in a play-off game against the Steelers I believe. It was almost identical to the Brady play...BUT nothing was done then even though a promising QB was out and his team was one and done!

As for the travel concerns? That is absolutely bias...no way around that bullcrap!

But it will be the Brady rule because of when the rule was started.

How many other Quarterbacks have gone down with the same exact injury because of the same exact hit? Seems Kurt Warner got his break because of an injury like that.

But it wasnt untill Brady got hurt untill they decided to do something about it.

That because it was Boy Wonder the NFL immediately took action. Fuk every other QB that has had the same misfortune in the past i.e. Palmer, Green.

Take off the Boston tinted glasses and then look at from a non bias perspective.

Because the Patriots started crying that the other teams play hard, and they no longer had an advantage because they were no longer allowed to view tapes that were illegally obtained, they had no other way to win. And because we have a commissioner who thinks the Patriots should be given every advantage known to mankind, the NFL made it illegal to hit the quarterback because they felt sorry for Tom Brady, and they felt sorry for Tom having to make a very long trip to the west coast more than once a year.

Because with Tom gone, its hard for everyone to get together to tell everyone how good they are.

When Palmer went down the NFL did modify the rules at being able to go after the QB's legs, this just enforced it. Rivers took a cheapshot to his knee against the Titans and it was never called, hopefully now it would be.

And yet the league continues to ignore teams like the Broncos that use cut blocking tactics that have injured defensive lineman for year upon years. The league says that it is all about safety, and yet it seems to me that it's only about safety for certain positions.
