    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/powerranking?season=2008&week=0

    2008 Power Rankings: Offseason
    RK (LW) TEAM REC COMMENT
1 (1) Patriots 16-0-0 A healthy Tom Brady and a happy Randy Moss make the Patriots championship contenders this season and for years to come. (MS)
2 (2) Colts 13-3-0 They haven't had a lot of offseason turnover and they already were very good. Continuity means a lot. (PY)
3 (6) Chargers 11-5-0 If the Chargers can get over their injury issues, they could be in the Super Bowl mix all the way to Tampa. (BW) :icon_eek:
( I am afraid hell is freezing over)

4 (3) Cowboys 13-3-0 Felix Jones should help the running game immediately. But who will emerge as the No. 2 receiver? Patrick Crayton wasn't up to the task in late '07. (MM)
5 (4) Jaguars 11-5-0 They sometimes get overshadowed by division rival Indianapolis, but the Jaguars have an elite roster and an elite coach in Jack Del Rio. (PY)
6 (9) Giants 10-6-0 Teams other than the Patriots aren't supposed to repeat as Super Bowl champions. Will Michael Strahan retire? Can they compensate for free-agent losses at LB? (MM)
7 (8) Steelers 10-6-0 A very strong draft catapults the Steelers into Super Bowl contenders. RBs Willie Parker and Rashard Mendenhall should be one of the best 1-2 punches. (JW)
8 (7) Seahawks 10-6-0 New O-line coach Mike Solari stands out as the Seahawks' top offseason acquisition, perhaps allowing them to keep their edge in the NFC West. (MS)
9 (13) Browns 10-6-0 The 2007 darlings face high expectations. The offense will score. Can the D, anchored by additions Shaun Rogers and Corey Williams, hold up its end? (JW)
10 (5) Packers 13-3-0 This is an unpredictable team in the wake of the retirement of Brett Favre. Who will step up and make the big plays this year? (JW)

Actually we should be above INDY considering we beat them, in their own house, after losing LT and Gates and eventually Rivers. And unlike most teams, we didnt lose anybody worth panicking about.

There is reallly no excuse not to have us at #2 right now.

It's not about sneaking up. Its about respect, and I'm sure we won't get any.

Which is fine by me. My Vbookie loves it when we are the underdog!!!

IMHO we are getting the respect we deserve. We are a top 5 team in all the Power Rankings I have seen. We are looked upon as an elite team.

How they could rank us below a team that we have nearly owned for several seasons. We beat them twice last year. Healthy or injured we were better than they were and I think we're even better this year.

No respect until we win a super bowl. So we deserve to be number 3.

The ratings are for current club potential. Oakland, Pittsburgh and Denver all have Lombardis, but they are ranked lower. The power ratings are subjective, but past superbowls, unless it was the previous year, wouldn't seem to be relevant. The power rankings are highly subjective, but I would give our edge over the Colts on the field more points than them in the power rankings. New England is another matter. Until we beat them, they have the edge over us-but not for much longer.

BTW MTL, why do you have Cleveland over us? I have a sneaking suspicion they might be over rated this year. Just guyt.

We actually should be #3 but it's good enough.

Patsies are the team to beat in the AFC until proven other wise.
We beat the Ponies in the regular season and the playoff in their house. Why are they #2? :icon_shrug:
Any three of these teams can beat the top NFC teams.

    KR Josh Cribbs

That's why. The bolds are new additions.

When you have beef, you're not overrated. Cleveland's offensive line was the best in football last year and LeCharles Bentley is coming back this year who was IMO the best center in the NFL before he got injured. They kill opponents at the point of attack. The defensive line should be outstanding. They are the most physical team in the NFL.

    I agree 99% with this.

I would have Dallas over the San Diego because they have TO being thrown to by Romo, they as well have a better line than does us the Chargers with Flozell Adams, Joe Burger, Leonard Davis and Doug free. The Dallas Defense is about equal to the Bolts but the advantage goes to their D-line with Tank Johnson, Chris Canty, Marcus Spears, Jay Ratliff and Steven Bowen.

That is why I would have the Dallas Cowboys over the San Diego Chargers.

    Just my opinion there.

What the F**k has Minnesota, and Cleveland done to deserve being #2, and #3 in a pre-season power ranking?? Neither made the playoffs last year. :icon_huh:

I see you're saying they are good on paper. Way too early to give them a place as high as you did. They haven't proven anything to be that high over us, the Colts, the Cowboys, or even Jax.

The Super Bowl champs are ranked 6th. :icon_rofl:

I wouldn't have a problem with us ranked lower, but there is no way in hell that we should be ranked below the Colts. We own their nag asses.

While I agree, the rankings are pretty close to correct at the top. I think that there are about 5 teams that you could throw into a hat, mix it up, and pull out a different order every time without that much of an argument from me.

    It's May entertainment.

The Steelers still own the Browns. I wouldn't rank the Browns above the Steelers until they prove they can beat them and win their division.

Provided we pick up where we left off last year, we will win the SB.

Leaving out the first 6 games while acclimating to a new Coach, Minnesota pwnd us with their run game and NE took us to task in the playoffs with an injury depleted team. aside from that, we were unstoppable.

NE is gonna get their comeuppance and the rest are just fodder until the playoffs. Once we are in the playoffs, you will witness the fortitude of this team (see both Titans games from last year), shear will power will bring a Lombardi to the Chargers front office.

If you told me I could have the Browns roster or the Steelers roster to start my own franchise, I would take the Browns roster.

Who cares if they made the playoffs or not last year. These are not 2007 power rankings. They have one of the best defenses in the NFL with the additions of Madieu Williams and Jared Allen and their run game is overpowering. What has Minnesota done? They have run the ball against outstanding run defenses and stopped outstanding rushing attacks. Their pass defense will improve considerably with the development of their young corners, with Jared Allen who will generate tremendous pressure and with Madieu Williams who should be a solid presence at safety and who is a very underrated player. They are loaded with depth in the trenches and should have solid special teams units

The Browns definately have the better, younger team than the Steelers right now.

I may not agree w/ you MTL on the teams and the rankings, but I do respect you for backing up your statements and claims.
