With the looming blackouts this season, I went ahead and subscribed to NFL redzone through Cox. Basically, the channel skips around to all the live games broadcasting when either team is in the redzone. So you get to watch the exciting parts of the game and it's not subjected to the blackout rule. Theres a free preview this Sunday the 19th, but if you signup now, you get the entire season for 24 bucks. Not a bad alternative to DirectTV, plus you get to watch your home team.

The Red Zone is a great idea. It does get hard when they switch into multiple screens when more than one game goes into it.

I have Sunday Ticket but mostly watch RedZone when the Chargers aren't playing. It's the perfect ADD tool.

Love the Redzone Channel. Was trying to see if DirecTV offered a similar package to what COX has with JUST the Redzone channel. $24 for the season is a KILLER deal. I have to pay $300-$400 for the entire Sunday Ticket. :(

Not sure if they are still offering it, but I was able to get $100 off the NFL Ticket package when I talked to them about dropping it.

If I wasnt a season ticket holder, I would have bought that package. I couldnt justify spending $1,600.00 just to watch Football. Now that I have Cox Cable I will look into the Red Zone option.

I love the redzone channel. I have to pay some sports package thing up here in SF to get the NFL network, and the redzone is included. It is pretty entertaining and there's almost always something happening with big plays and td's. They don't just stay focuses on redzone plays. It's like a total ADD experience in the best way possible.

This is my second year with NFL Red Zone. I dropped the NFL Ticket & Directv and have Verizon FIOS fiber optic. NFL Red Zone costs $49.00. I would always watch this channel when I had the NFL Ticket. Great for the hardcores. They did a triple screen last weekend. Oh and the internet speeds are insane. I have a 25meg/25meg package. I get 31 megs on the downloads and 22 megs on the upload easily.

The Red Zone is da chit.

Man, wish I had FIOS here. I heard that in Tennessee, they will be the first to be offering 1 GB speeds to the home for $350.00/Month. But yeah I'm looking forward to watching The RedZone this weekend.

You should check out the postings in this thread over at dbstalk.com:

stand alone red zone channel this year ? - DBSTalk.Com

You can get just the NFL Redzone Channel. I did and it isn't costing me anything.

    Just as an FYI;

NFL Redzone is an NFL Network offering. It's available on various systems including Dish Network, Cox, Verizon FIOS & AT&T Uverse, but not Time Warner or DirecTV.

The NFL Redzone Channel is a DirecTV offering and is usually only available with NFL Sunday Ticket. This year it is available FREE to customers that meet a certain criteria, but you have to ask for it.

Both have different hosts, but essentially show the same thing.

The 1 GB trial of this FIOS stuff is just mind blowing. It is impossible for me to lag out this connection even with 3 hardwired computers downloading whatever, 0ne wi-fi lap top doing the same, XBOX in full kill mode and 3 flat panels watching HD and it does not miss a beat. I can not lag out this connection. Freaking rock solid. Best move I ever made for internet service and video service.

Also for any ppl tryin to watch our games that wont be broadcast, Redzone gets alot less jumbled after the noon games. Once the 5 or so 3 o clock games start its pretty ez to see most of a game. Also they do do replays of some drives as to how they got in the redzone if it was on a big play.

Been more and more usin redzone as a standby channel and watchin SD game 100% but if not a SD game on then 50/50 RZ or other Sunday Ticket games.

Dude I'm in the south pacific, which is internet hell. In French Polynesia, service was like 4 dollars an hour and slow as ****. In the Cook Islands they charged by the megabyte. 250mb cost $50. That's like 10 seconds at your speed. For $50. Here in American Samoa it's $40/month and a bit faster but still pretty slow most of the time. I miss high speed internet.

Just a heads up if you don't get this channel....they are offering a free preview this weekend.

I subscribed after watching it on my phone last weekend....from Cox it's only like $25 for the whole season.

    Redzone is so freakin' awesome.

And BTW, it's kind of a misnomer. They don't only show the game when a team is completely inside the red zone. If there are no offenses within the 20 yard line, they just go to a live feed of the game that's most exciting. For example, if there is a team in the red zone during the third quarter of a blowout, and another team at the 50 yard line in a tied fourth quarter game, they'll most likely show the tie game. (And just quickly switch to the game in the redzone while the plays are happening

The announcer does a decent (no great) job of staying on top of the multiple games.

The same with different announcers. I had Directv with the NFL Ticket and the Red Zone package and now I have just the Red Zone and use bootleg feeds. Works like a charm until the bootleg feeds get cut off.
