This article showed some interesting figures.

Five teams have 6 players each earning the top money: Denver, Arizonia, SD, Oakland, Jacksonville.

Three teams have only one player earning the top money: Seattle, NO, and Clevend.

Some of the players are waaaaaaaay underachieved this year.

    Lamont Jordan.......:icon_rofl:

I wonder if teams look at guys like Jordan and Chester Taylor when considering whether or not Turner could be a starting running back. I remember all the hype around Jordan. Taylor played pretty well but wore down at the end of the year last year.

I was surprised Ed Reed wasn't on that list. He's one of the best nfl players there is now. I'm guessing he hasn't gotten his big second contract yet. Which will probably bankrupt the ravens.

I'm not looking forward to when the chargers have to give Merriman and Mcneil their second contracts. In I believe the same year. Thats gonna be alot of money. People wonder why the chargers are trying to be cap friendly for the future. Those two contracts are a big reason why.

To be honest. I myself would try and give mcneil a new 6 year contract right now. Cause the longer he plays the more expensive he's gonna be.

The CBA prohibits doing this kind of stuff in a players second year but I hear what you are saying.

What a brother gets paid for a league year and his cap hit are generally two different numbers due to amortizing bonus monies.

If a player gets a roster bonus, that will add to their average yearly salary for that season, since roster bonuses are treated like signing bonuses and not amortized yearly. That is why some players yearly "top paid" salaries seem inflated. The team is really giving them a signing bonus, but since it's in the form of a roster bonus, it just counts towards that year.

I understand. I just think that this is an inaccurate depiction of one's yearly salary. I honestly don't think Jammer who signed a 6 year extension, who's contract is worth 42.5 mil over those 6 years.
