Just have to get the players to agree on all-star tourney once every couple of years. Also be nice to see World Cup alternate between international and nhl size sheets, and not just in the qualifying rounds.

The best thing about the World Cup is that the players are all in. There's no midseason politics/worries. Might be some guys a bit out of shape, but they're all focused on the tourney. Teams don't mail it in like they sometimes do in the Olympics. Some of that may be due to lack of access to women's ski teams in World Cup.

Thanks, good stuff on a couple levels. I've noticed that the top coaches in our youth org are very much like the guys described in that article: just get me the saves. They'll write off kids quickly rather than being inclusive and letting kids develop. On another level, Canada and the US had better keep up in the arms race.

If I would have been allowed more than 40 min. of crooked stick ball hockey, Canada may have may have made a more significant contribution in to that sport Europe.

My thinking was that attacking the shooter is better standing in the crease flapping my arms like a chicken holding that toothpick of a stick. I felt like a padded baseball shortstop.

Other option was to pull yourself and go for a goal.

Darren McCarty will have to be up for it. It is sad about Bob Probert. He should be in that game too.

Yep, would have been good to see Probert v Domi one last time. Course, that's what caused Probert's issues to begin with.

The Department of Player Safety has determined the actions of former Detroit Red Wings forward Brendan Shanahan did not represent a breach of rule 57, subsection 2, line 3 stating that launching a fist into an opposing players face is only dangerous if he leaves his feet simultaneously while aligning the players head with a stantion in the glass and at the same instant using his free hand to apply pressure to that player's genital region. If you look at the video you can clearly identify....

Burnside article on the roster selection was detailed. ******* crap shoot that ****. I think they'll regret the Jack Johnson decision, but Putin ain't gonna let anyone but the Russians win anyway.

Another egg laid by USA at Juniors, ah well. Win one, fail to make the Semis next year, same old same old.
Did you see the Burnside article? Hard to believe USA Hockey allowed that type of access.

    An imbedded journalist... most amusing.

    I agree on Jack Johnson.
I am glad Jimmy Howard made the team.
I think Brian Burke is a huge a-hole.
I can remember when the USA did not really have enough players to warrant this kind of selection process.

Yes it was only 4 years ago!
What I'm enjoying is the Canadian journos saying how great it is to get that type of access.
Great except that Bobby Ryan might not want to play for the team again. Ryan did call Burke gutless. Not sure that's the right word--******* is much more appropriate.

Well there is no doubt that there are grown men who take these choices as seriously as a pooftah trying to get the color of the curtains right. Stevie Y, the hosehead supremo gets to make his selections public on live tv in Toronto.

Go Russia. Go Sveden Hadens... (barring that Go Czechs, Finns, Slovaks, Swiss or whoever).
