Shannon isn't the brightest of the bunch, but I do like him. And he makes a good point about Belichick.

It is amusing that the press always makes the Patriots out to be the "class organization" of the NFL, but they are filled with the biggest bunch of classless losers. Ever since Spygate, they have been unable to get over the hump, and it only reinforces the view that they needed to cheat in order to win.

Don't get me wrong, I like some Patriots; I'm a big fan of Welker and Woodhead, and I don't really agree with the "they needed to cheat in order to win," either.

But you make a point about their classlessness; Bill Belichick is a self-obsessed douche. I haven't heard his voice once this entire season, and all I remember about his loss in 2008 to the Giants in the Super Bowl was how he ran off the field before the last few seconds of the clock ran out. And that's not the only example of their classlessness, either. Do they have one of the best teams in the NFL? Absolutely. But they're extremely classless.

Well, look at it this way...... first, we had the "tuck rule", that saved the Brady (and the Pats) ***. Next, we had the mugging of the Rams WRs by the Pats defenders, which allowed them to win that Super Bowl. The pass defense rules were changed after that to prevent that from happening in the future. Then, of course, we had the whole Spygate mess. Who knows what was on those tapes that Goodell burned? They could've learned a lot from studying tapes of other teams, and they had an advisor on their staff with a photographic memory.

No one is denying that the patriots didn't have a lot of talented players and Belichick isn't a good coach, but they also got more than their share of "help" in order to win those Super Bowls. I don't think it was all just a matter of luck.

One thing there is no doubt about, they are a bunch of sore losers. You measure a person by how they handle adversity, not just success.

I was too young to be able to remember the Super Bowl with the Patriots vs. the Rams, but I know the whole shabang behind the "tuck rule." You make a very solid point.

To go off on a bit of a tangent, I have seen a few balls that PRivs has thrown that have been called fumbles, though they looked oddly similar to Brady's "tuck rule." Ironic.

Yeah, we had Harbaugh, Eric Kramer and Leaf in '99 - Kramer "retired" with a neck injury - seems like there was a big broohaha in one game when Harbaugh accused Kramer of stealing our signals and giving them to his buddy from the sidelines of the opposing team but damned if I can remember the details...

Ahhhh shite, so you seen that post did you ? ....... Was kinda hoping you wouldn't, but I guess I was pissing into the wind on that one.

You can take Gooeys place then, come to think about it, you aren't that much taller than him anyway, so that should work out just fine. :)

Chargers fire strength and conditioning staff

    :abq1: :helm1: :abq2: :helm1: :abq1:

MOBILE, Ala.— In the coming days, Mike McCoy plans to announce some changes to the Chargers staff.

A new strength and conditioning team will be among them.

Jeff Hurd, strength and conditioning coach, and Vernon Stephens, his assistant, have been fired, a source said Monday. They joined the organization in 2007, arriving with former coach Norv Turner.

McCoy, hired last week as new Chargers coach, was asked directly Monday at the Senior Bowl about their dismissals. He confirmed them but declined to name the replacements.

It is common for a head coach to bring his own strength and conditioning staff with him.

He said the reason wasn't related to any of the team's previous injury issues.

During the 2012 offseason, the Chargers underwent a self-study, comparing the frequency and nature of their player injuries to the rest of the league. The totals, while higher in 2011 than the league average, were not to the extent to suggest immediate change was needed.

"I've had a plan in place for who I would hire for a staff for a long time," McCoy said.
