I did not see that Rivers collapse coming I've gotta say. Yeah the OL sucked but he wasn't that good even when there was no pressure.
Also bummed that Norv shackled Ingram.

But **** it, water under the bridge.

Prediction for this year: Worse than last year. Face it, Bolts are in rebuilding phase. It's going to take a few decent drafts to pull it back together. And by then, we'll need a new QB.

I still think Rivers' poor play was symptomatic of the O-line problems. A QB has to be able to trust his protection, since his attention has to be downfield. As soon as a QB starts to look around for where the pressure is coming from, he's toast. Rivers is tough, so he didn't have his had on a swivel, but when you've been hit that many times, you don't trust your protection, even on plays when you actually have time. Philip's clock was sped up, causing him to rush throws and make poor decisions. It didn't help that Norv's vertical offense requires more time to get the ball out.

If the new O-line provides better protection (which I believe it will), and the new offensive scheme is design to get the ball out of Rivers' hands sooner (which I also believe), then I think Philip will play better, and won't commit as many turnovers. Even with all the problems last year, the offense still ranked #20 in the NFL and that was by far Rivers' worst year. It wouldn't take much to improve in both TDs and turnovers.

The defense was ranked #16 overall, and should've been ranked higher if not for those 4th quarter breakdowns. Face it, if it wasn't for that, the Chargers would've won a few more games and possibly made it into the post season. As a local radio host (former coach) said the other day, 4th quarter collapses are often a symptom of a lack of conditioning. We've all questioned this training staff with the rash of non-contact injuries that have plagued this team. The new staff has these guys running harder and working harder by the sound of the players' comments (like Floyd). A better conditioned team should have fewer late game collapses like the infamous Broncos game that turned last season's fortunes around.

I see reason s to be at least a little optimistic about this years team. I do think they will be better than last year. How much better, and how quickly they gel is the real question. Another year of good drafting and FA acquisitions would surely help, but I don't see any reason to expect a lost season this year.

With posts like this, you're gonna put NostraFrostus out of a job, you long-winded bastage. :D

I'll be waiting to watch the preseason (to a small extent ) and then the first 3 games of the season before making any predictions, that should be more than enough to tell us what we'll be dealing with in '13-'14

Just hoping the team's somewhat intact and not around 0-5 by the time I arrive .......... that would be a total bummer. ;)

Still never heard of her ...............

She needs to go "Amanda Bynes/LiLo" a little to get some airtime if she's fair dinkum about becoming a "somebody". (where's her mugshot ?)

At the moment she's just another "Blonde Bimbo" without a rapsheet ................ woman needs to work on her game and get a little notoriety in her portfolio or she's just another "wanna-be" in my books. :D

Hmmm, what kind of dress exactly, is one you "don't wear underwear with" and why ? (to me you either go commando always or never !!)

and if she was aware of not wearing undies, why did she rip it in the first place ?

Sounds a little "suss" to me Pump, you sure she's not a Bimbo ? :roflmao:

I'd like to believe that, but it looked to me like Rivers lost his edge. As I said, the OL was part of that, but even when they did okay, he was gunshy. The guy needs a solid OL in front of him. Let's hope it gets a lot better this year, cause a guy like Rivers isn't going to make it late into his 30s, little less to 35 with a shite OL. He needs a ******* good OL to be the guy the Chargers need, and he doesn't have it yet.

Their nuts are too shriveled to care about the nuances of an overlap vs interlock grip.

    Late one Ringo ......

Well Tiger's nuts certainly shriveled up bigtime again in a last round of a Major. (along with Scotty's)

Starting to look like its the norm, rather than the anomoly anymore, not sure what he has left in him as far as Majors go.

Hell of a round by Flabby Phil though all the same, a 66 on that course takes some doing at the best of times.

No doubt, Lefty's on a roll. First the Scottish then the big one. Maybe Lindsay's taking too much out of Tiger...

I find it hard to believe that a player as good as Rivers just suddenly loses it. His decline is tied to the offensive line problems, and I don't think you can separate the two. Give Rivers better protection, and you'll see a different player. We all know he's the most reliant on his protection to be successful, as he's not athletic and can't buy extra time with his feet. An offense that's geared to get the ball out sooner will surely benefit him.

I think Philip will have a bounce back year, then then all his critics can go back to taking potshots at more worthy candidates, like Sanchez, Romo, Cultler, and their ilk.

    +1, and morning X!

As others have pointed out, (except those with incredibly short memories), despite all of the O-Line's difficulty helping to generate *any* kind of run game, and obvious lack of pass protection - we were still in and even ahead in many of our losses - and then came the defensive 4th quarter meltdowns. If the defense had been able to sustain their performance for all 4 quarters, we would STILL have had a winning season even with all of the offensive short-comings. Our team needed major improvement on both sides of the ball and I'm waiting to see if they achieved anything close to doing so - show me.

Getting to be about time to just ban the bastages. No slap on the wrist, no we'll give you your first one, just ban them.

    Ditto ....

Ofcourse we all "hope" that this is the case in regards to FILLUP, but, it must be noted, I seen certain things in his game that had very little to do with what anyone else was or wasn't doing and it's feasible to give the guy the benefit of the doubt to a certain degree, but it has been 2 full seasons now since he has looked dominating, not just a few games here and there.

I haven't given up totally on the guy quite yet, his first 4 years or so have earnt him my utmost respect, BUT, the clock is running nonetheless and in today's game, your past credits only have a certain shelf life.
