It's really not an issue anymore. I added 16 GB (2 x 8) to a 4 GB stock pair (4 slots total), and had no problems whatsoever. As long as they are all the same type of RAM, it's not a problem. That used to be a big no no, but times have changed. ;)

Speak for yourself there CBF .....

But "4 extra of anything" would make most women squeal like a pig .... (Not that I'd know anything about such a thing)

It may not be an issue, for you. But many of the motherboard manufacturers do not test their boards with mixed memory sizes. It's just not a generally "recommended" practice, even today. If it works, awesome.

Remember the "rams" I gave you back in day.

You had no issues with those either for memory.

It may still be a problem for some PC users, but from all I've read (and found in my own usage), it's not an issue for Macs at this stage.

Of course, when Blitzy gets enough funds, he'll undoubtedly get a matching 16 GB for the other two slots, because he's just that sort of guy. ;)

My PC is an HP, it cost me a bit more to add the matching RAM

My research told me it had to be the same to work effectively.

CBF is referring to have unbalanced amounts in the slots. In this example, a 4GB pair (2 x 2 GB) in one set of slots, and a 16 GB pair (2 x 8 GB) in the other two slots..... 4 total ram slots (two sets). This used to be a problem for computers, but the newer Macs it is not... as long as both sets are the same spec.

For Jack, and all his penal colony pals (and, man, there seems to be a lot here, for some reason),
I guess The Boss got the sandgropers all worked up a few days ago...

The Boss 'aint the Boss for nothing Lancelot ...... ;)

He did his homework when it comes to getting Aussies on his side early ................ belt out a classic AC/CD song and you're Gold no matter what the rest of the night consists of (not that Springsteen need worry about such things anyway)

AC/DC are so far ahead of any other Aussie band among the masses here (still to this day), its daylight to 2nd place.

Actually heard a guy on Sports radio here today, saying he was sitting in a little bar a few days ago, maybe 20-25 people eating dinner and having drinks, when a rather large African-American chap mossy'd on in .......... word quickly got around it was the nephew of the "Big Man" himself and now playing for Springsteen like his Unc did so brilliantly for all those years, how cool is that !!!

Shortly after, Springsteen himself rolled up, no entourage, minder's or hanger-on's and drinks were on the house for everyone there the rest of the night .....................guy sure knows how to win peeps over.

Cool story and one that doesn't surprise me in the least in regard to Springsteen, dood is all class.

"Vince Young, 30, competed for the Green Bay Packers' backup QB job last year but lost out to Seneca Wallace. He said in the statement that he will train in San Diego the next two months with the goal of signing with a team. Young last played in a regular season game in 2011."

OK, who's up for a Sausage Sizzle (bsides Pumpy that is !)

3 words that would be enough to scare the living shite out of any Charger fan ..........

Vince, Young, San Diego ................... [IMG]
