That's my point, if he can "beat us", what's anyone else likely to do !!! ............................Schaub could be in the running for MVP now that he gets to play us TWICE a year !!! ;)

Might as well hand him the Comeback Player of the Year right now !! :D

Hardly....... it's mobile QBs (even bad ones) that always gives the Chargers problems.

Just pray they don't draft Manziel. ;)

Alex Smith is the only notably mobil QB in our Divi and he's a sloth when compared to Kaeppy and Wilson ;)

I read somewhere just yesty that it's conceivable that Tommy Telescopic may even trade our 1st and acquire more 2nd and 3rd round picks .....................I do like the idea of of "more" possible starters over a single entity I must admit.

No ONE draft pick is gonna turn around a teams fortunes in a single season, whereas several could make a difference in the near future.

If we do indeed trade down with the Jaguars, we could conceivably use 3 out of those 4 picks on BPA at CB / NT / OLB (not necessarily in that order) with WR being also in there. I think that the OT/OG and C will come at the later rounds.

No secret in the fact that ideally this draft ought to be used to build up the depth which was decimated away in the seasons prior. This is not necessarily a draft to find the next Chargers "superstar".

I'd be happy with "solid" starters instead of AJ's overreach "bust" selections.

Sounds like after 6 or 7 years we are all starting to agree that "more rather than less" is the way to go.

    Whaaaaaaat?!

You have been advocating for cutting the roster by booting out like 1/2 the players, as far as I recall! I thought that you were a less is more, kinda guy. Only Pumpy ought to really know that though ;)

Well ofcourse everyone's on the "lets rebuild bandwagon" now, pretty easy to agree once its as obvious as stink of shite..............there weren't to many saying that before Norf's last year Poofessoria (unlike ourselves as far back as about 09), not that you'd hear many confess that these days.

Was never so much a need for a rebuild in my book, even back then, we just never got rid of what was obvious deadwood or got rid of overpriced vets who were never worth the money they were paid and its come back to haunt us.
Clary is another perfect example of that situation ................... should have been outed years ago, but now, simply because we can't afford to cut him, we are now stuck with an overpriced, mediocre-at-very-best RG, with absolutely no upside whatsoever.

It is an overstatement, but Jack doesn't know any other way to express his opinions. ;)

Since Clary has only played guard for exactly one season, it would be impossible to say definitively that he has "no upside." Sure, Jack doesn't hold Clary in high regard, but any player switching positions needs more than one year to show if they have the ability to improve. The jury is still out.

I can live with Clary at guard there are bigger needs on this team right now.
Blues correct Clary can still improve, one year is nothing to say a guy has no upside.

And who are you; the proud Lord said, that I must bow so low?...

Only a cat, of a different coat; that's all the truth I know...

In a coat of gold or a coat of red, the lion still has claws...

And mine are long and sharp my Lord, just as long and sharp as yours...

    ;)

    For the record:

Clary's positives are: hard worker, durable, good teammate, good locker room guy, good community member...

Negatives are serviceable OT at best: decent run blocker and below average pass blocker.

Showed improvements as an OG with Fluker on his right side, but in hindsight if we had retained Vasquez and had let go of Clary a season ago, we would have been better equipped on the right side; with the BIG caveat being that Vasquez could not have served as a RT when the decimated line was playing musical chairs and also Clary's salary cap hit.

Vasquez however had more upside as RG. Now, as I had stated before on multiple occasions, there's absolutely no need to cut Clary at this point before the draft, training camp, pre-season right up to and until when it is time to determine the final 53. If he earns it, HE EARNS IT!

I can see a scenario where Clary sticks around..... much to the chagrin of his detractors. :whistling:

Perhaps, the team is allowing him to collect the full amount of his current deal, as a thank you for all his hard work, and they'll draft his replacement this year. That'll give the new guy a season to develop without being forced to start.

Then, if Clary is amenable, they'll sign him back next year at a reduced rate as a backup (RG/RT). We might never be rid of him. ;)

I guess when you get old there is a tendency to stir old pots rather than look for new ones. (Ya lazy bastage!). :D:p:ninja:
