    I don't think the autopsy results will help any....... 6 bullets, 2 to the head. Is that how you subdue an unarmed teen these days?

    I don't have a personal iron in this fire......but 2 autopsies confirm he was shot six times......4 in the arm, presumably to stop him, two in the head when the first 4 did not. All from the front. This was a very big man, and reports and video are coming out now that he kept charging forward towards the officer after being struck. I don't have a race or political card to play here, I am a human, and wish all would realize this simple fact, we all are one, and need to start respecting each as such. Sad world we are living in. I'll just stick to the unquestioning loyalty and companionship my animals show me, thank you very much. The youngins will just call me the crazy dog man lol.

    I just question how much of a threat a "big man" really is with 4 bullets in the arm. An essentially one-armed man against a trained cop shouldn't require killshots. How was the officer in mortal danger? An overreaction at the very least.

    "IF" he kept coming at him and did not go down.......what would you do? Toxicology results are not in yet......was he on something? Who knows. This was not a nice kid. MO has a website to look up criminal offenses, called casenet....he has a felony burglary charge against him in St. Ann, MO......not long ago. If someone came at me and a thump did not stop him........would I thump him again? Would you?

    I do.......and I do for a reason. It would never be held, shown, or wielded unless my families safety so dictated. At that point though and only at that point.......all bets are off. JMO.

    You willing to wait and trust someone else judgement.....call 911 as someone is coming through your door, or at your window at a stop sign, and let me know how well that works. I'm trying to argue anything here, just stating that some of us don't live in a situation, or place, where waiting or counting on someone else is always an immediate option unfortunately. I am not trying to be an advocate one way or another, just my personal belief system, and my life experiences tell me that I gotta take care of me.

    Having had a childhood friend who was similarly "dealt with" by the police, I have a slightly different perspective.

    More police officers are killed in the USA in a 2 year period, than have been killed in the last 40 years in the UK. It's a sick culture of violence.

    So says the old gun nut. :D

    I have an alarm system, and a well lit property. I don't make myself an easy target. I also don't leave in fear.

    That always makes me wonder - the national newzies immediate got hold of the number and location of wounds but we always get this "Toxicology results" delay as though lab testing requires some long trip, climbing a mountain, crossing deserts and rivers, etc. It happens here in SoCal each year - of course the local cases haven't been quite as visible as this one has become. You would think in a case getting this kind of attention those test results would have been expedited and no B.S. about lab workload, etc. Now there has been a second autopsy - but the lab results still haven't been released to the public... HIPPA my ***..

    In the mean time - so called "civil disorder" (I call it rioting, looting, getting away with whatever you can), is going to get others killed - more stores looted - etc. Things haven't changed that much since 1964/5.

    Yeah, you don't call in the National guard because folks are crying and upset... You call them out when those hired to "protect and serve" cannot, or will not, do so. Remember NOLA a few years back?

    Gun nut eh? Says the aging lily-livered "hep me protect me" specialist who is only interested in slaying dragons. :D

    When I call 911 its for backup. We live and view things differently - but I note both of us are still around. :tup:

    OBTW, my home/property is similarly equipped - plus 9 self installed video cameras and 2 more will be added when the weather cools back down. Living in the county, one learns over the years just how long it takes for the Sheriff's department to actually arrive these days.

    The San Diego Chargers added to their defensive line depth on Monday announcing they’ve signed Doug Worthington, a three-year veteran who can play both defensive tackle and end. Prior to his release last week he had been with the Washington Redskins since 2011.

    No surprise there - with Lissemore, Guy and Scafe nicked up - young man should be able to help with the run defense but I wouldn't expect much more than that - we shall see.

    I lived in Los Angeles during the Watts Riots, (which was what I was alluding to earlier) - no, not in Compton, but right next door. I have a pretty good idea of how X and others in his community feel.

    I saw some of that and wondered if he wasn't just trying to survive the exhibition season? Of course, then I saw Geathers slip backwards a good yard against a double team, even though his feet were planted and remembered that is an artificial surface up there at "the Click". Bet the equipment manager was sought out by ownership and the F.O. after that game.

    I'd be looking at the D-line coach too...... their technique is sadly lacking.

    We'll see what the NFL says - probably tomorrow, but maybe Wednesday...

    ~~~
    OBTW, regarding the National Guard being called up - they will be "protecting the Command Center", freeing up more Police Officers to actually go out into the streets. They will not be out patrolling the streets themselves according to NBC National Newz.
    Our competition has had it worse when it comes to injuries.......
    Report: Darnell Dockett suffered torn ACL today
    Posted by Darin Gantt on August 18, 2014, 8:48 PM EDT
    The news on Cardinals defensive tackleDarnell Dockett’s knee injury today was not good.
    According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, the Cardinals believe Dockett suffered a torn ACLand will be lost for the season.
    That’s obviously a huge blow to the Cardinals defense, which lost linebacer Karlos Dansby in free agency, and will be without suspended linebacker Daryl Washington and can’t be sure when they’ll get safety Tyrann Mathieu back from injury.
    Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has done a masterful job there, but the job just keeps getting tougher and tougher.
    The San Diego Chargers added to their defensive line depth on Monday announcing they’ve signed Doug Worthington, a three-year veteran who can play both defensive tackle and end. Prior to his release last week he had been with the Washington Redskins since 2011.
    “It’s a blessing to be here,” he said after his first practice as a Charger. “Getting put on the street after the first preseason game was shocking and heartbreaking having been there for three years. But I got back in the lab, worked out and my agent stayed on top of it. I had a few teams interested. I had a workout with the Patriots, but San Diego was the best fit for me. So it’s a blessing. The coaches have been very patient with me and the guys are supportive, so it’s been a good start.”
    The 6-5, 318-pounder appeared in six games in 2012, registering three tackles and one pass defensed. He missed the entire 2013 campaign after being placed on the Reserve/Injured list in mid-June. Now healthy in America’s Finest City, Worthington believes he can make an impact in Defensive Coordinator John Pagano’s system.
    “It’s a great scheme they run here,” he said. “It’s a 3-4 hybrid. The way they play is totally different than what I’m used to, but it allows you to be an athlete. It allows you to get upfield and make a lot of plays, so it’s exciting. I’m getting used to it, but the coaches and everyone around me has been very helpful.”
    Worthington takes the place of Damik Scafe, who was waived-injured with a hip ailment.
    So apparently, all we need for Pagano's scheme to work is some "athletes"........ I hope Telesco can find some before the season starts. ;)
