and I'll ride with em til they roll outta SoCal. I'll wear my jerseys old and new. From my old tattered #55 to my sewn and stitched authentic #56. I'll have the decals on my car and I'll wear my hats with a slight tilt to the left.

But one thing has irked me since I first signed up for this team in 91. This may just be me being a newer generation of Bolt living in modern times. And maybe some of y'all will call me a young buck with no respect or appreciation for our history (to which I'll totally disagree). This may be a simple thing to some and it's really not that big of a deal but in a small way it is.

WTF is up with out damn theme song? Whenever I hear it I always feel as if a disco ball should be dropping down and lights flashing everywhere with people in bell-bottoms dancing with afros and ****.

Now I apologize to those of you that have grown with the song. But as a fan of music and a producer so to speak I always felt a NFL theme song should sound like fight song not something so happy and jingly. Whenever I hear "Fight On" or "Tribute to Troy" by the Trojan Marching Band it fires me up and sends a wave of confidence through me. It's timeless and just strikes a chord in me.

We need something with more fight and less dance. more powerful and less 70's ish. And for the record I'm not recommending something like the crappy modern rap/rock Chargers songs I've heard recently, Im talking in the fashion of the old type of music composition and with some words that make you want to stand up and rally around the team. Like the Packers, Browns, or Redskins songs of old that they still cling to.

Please tell me there was a Chargers song that existed before the disco version. Because I think I'd rather hear that one instead:unsure:

Well I'm an 80's baby which is probably part of my problem by the time I was born the disease known as disco was cured for the most part. The effects caused a nauseating period of music where men wearing make up was cool but once we got past that mankind was okay.

And for the record I think that P.O.D. song is crap. I've heard there was a song before it all called "Go Chargers Go" and I'd very much like to hear it. Even that "Chargers of LA" song sounds interesting to me. I think the older songs sound so much better than these rap/rock train wrecks and anything has to be better than the Village People-ish song we play so faithfully.

I'm sorry y'all but this is just my opinion and I'm sure it wont change anything I just need to be reassured we had songs that werent so.....

Anybody know who the artist was of that really cool song they'd play on ROCK 105.3 during the 2006 season?

It was a really cool rock song "WE'RE THE SAN DIEGO SUPER CHARGERS!!!"

And there's always this one!!! :rockout: :rockout: :rockout:

And the chains they crash like thunder
While the weak ones all retreat
    Gotta draw first blood
Or they'll read your funeral rights

    When the lightning strikes

Uum...it's dog eat dog when you're meetin' your rival
In the combat zone it's a means of survival
Gonna get last licks on a suicide blitz
On a cloak and dagger night

    When the lightning strikes
    When the lightning strikes
    When the lightning strikes
    Can'tcha hear the thunder
    When the Lightning Strikes
    Can'tcha hear the thunder
    When the lightning strikes
    Can'tcha, can'tcha, can'tcha hear the thunder
    When the lightning strikes
    Can'tcha, can'tcha, can'tcha hear the thunder
    When the lightning strikes
    Can'tcha, can'tcha, can'tcha hear the thunder
    When the lightning strikes
    Can'tcha, can'tcha, can'tcha hear the thunder
    When the lightning strikes :bolt::bolt:

Thunderstruck by AC/DC should be the Chargers theme song. The P.O.D. one is ok, but it doesn't get much better than AC/DC.

    POWERMAN 5000 - ACTION

When the visiting team scores and we're lining up to receive, this would be the perfect song!!!

Where’d you learn how to be so complacent?
They beat you down and you might as well face it
Your heroes lied, yeah they’re all just a fake
Don’t know how much more of this I can take

    We’re gonna need some action
We’re gonna need some action soon

Trapped in a world of ordinary madness
It’s all the same, there’s nothing new

    Com'on, com'on
    Com'on, com'on
    Com'on, com'on

    .38 SPECIAL - CHAIN LIGHTNING

After we get a first down and they're moving the chains.

Chain Lightning - too hot to fight
Hot on the heels of a Saturday night
Chain Lightning - out of control
Straight to the heart and down to your soul
Chain Lightning - too hot to fight
It's hotter than Hell in Heaven, tonight

I was a regular Bacchanal Patron, I had a Yellow shirt that said

    DISCO SUCKS

So if it isn’t Rock and Roll it isn’t S**T

The Song that you speak of brings back great memories. It is probably the only Disco Song I loved to hear, it came out when Air Coryell was still soaring high. The crowd would start dancing and waving their arms. They tried to redo the song, but the Disco version still comes out at #1 in our hearts.

POD now has their version, I have heard it, and it sounds great. I will never say anything bad about it. But you have to remember that song is written for this generation, and that generation would be the “POWDER BULES” Generation. Its okay, I like it. But you have to remember where you have been, don’t forget the past as you move forward.

We can have 2 songs if you like; the POD version is the newest one out there. Play it out in the Parking Lot, they play inside the stadium. It gets your blood pumping so the song has done its job.

The Chargers should sponsor a contest for a NEW Chargers' theme song.

All the puking and piles of vomit interfere with my beng able to enjoy the Disco version.

And that's fine and I respect that but I prefer something older with the heavy horns and crowd chanting type lyrics. When I hear that Super Chargers song I DON NOT feel inspired to sing along. If we could maybe dig up the songs before that I'd be ALLL for it.

Disco Does Suck. And It kills our song's strength in my mind. Like I said I maybe younger but I definitely respect our history and I respect the song but it doesnt mean I like it. Give me the Charger songs of OLD before the disco crap.

    Anyone have them?

The Bengals have one of those, and when I was there in 2006 that song was SO terrible I couldn't stand it. And they had the lyrics up on the scoreboard with a little ball bouncing over the words so the hillbilly fans could keep up. Of course it was really nice when the Chargers scored 42 points in the second half to rip that game away from them, and I got to see all of those hillbilly fans with "I just got kicked in the nuts" looks on their faces. :abq2:

I was supposed to be at that game but instead I got free tix to see the colts vs. bills so I saved my money. I remember seeing the halftime score and all the Colts fans cheered while I shook my head. Only to see the final score when I left and think how amazing it must've been to watch that *** kicking. I should've paid the money.

Anyways people stop side-stepping the question. Anyone familiar with the older songs before the disco crap. Something like the redskins song that SCREAMS 60's or older....

Got Dammit I KNOW That Disco Song Is NOT our first and only song ever...and nobody will convince me. Can someone PLEASE talk to me about this???

    Anyone???:icon_huh:

I don't think the chargers had an old school theme song Scar... not like what you're looking for. Sorry :( I mean, they weren't even created until the 60's - the teams who have those types of songs are from like the inception of football as I understand it...

No way...Our first and only song did not come from the disco era. I refuse to believe that. I've heard whispers of a "Go Chargers Go" song and even a "Hip Hooray for the Chargers Of LA".

I will make it my personal mission to dig inot our song history..I do not approve of the P.O.D. song and I cant let that be historized with another song I dont like before out root are.

Mark my words I wont stop digging. And when I find it I will be sure to play it on my podcast every damn show. I dont even care if its the LA one.

While I appreciate your tenacity for finding an original song... the thought of the Chargers of LA one makes me ill :p

I only root for ONE team in LA and its only b/c we dont have one of our own here  otherwise, LA can suck it :p especially when it comes to my Chargers  Hope you find one, but not from their solitary season in the city of rioting angels.

Born the 60s, grew up in the 70s/80s. In all that time I never like the Disco song. I cut my music teeth on Deep Purple, Boston, Black Sabbath, Rush, Yes, Zep, etc, etc.

    Abba and the like.. :puke:

They do need a new song. That one is soo dated.
