    *Sigh*

Too bad, that would have been great for North County, and a beautiful place for a stadium. San Diego deserves a GREAT, unique stadium and there goes a wonderful opportunity to build it.

I was actually looking forward to having the stadium nearby, since we're moving to the Carlsbad area in a few months. :icon_sad:

I like that picture...I may "borrow" it for a future avatar...

Our chances of getting a new stadium are dwindling...rapidly.

There's too much history here, all of the ups and even the downs. This team grew up with this city, and they shouldn't go ANYWHERE! If they leave they'll take a piece of all our hearts, whether it's worn and rugged from decades of heartbreak, or fresh and ready for this "new era." I can't believe that we could realistically know if the Bolts will be staying or leaving by the end of the season. I'm not ready for this sort of thing.

If the Chargers continue their losing ways, nobody won't notice they left!!!

Regarding the sites down in CV, the area is booming and a stadium would only help the local economy even more. Unfortunately no one is mentioning that CV has a $9 million budget shortage and facing possible layoffs. The city isn't doing as great as percieved considering the taxes from the local malls aren't coming in due to lack of sales. Also, the delay of the 125 toll road is really hurting and everyone on the project is on a mad rush to completing the freeway before the holiday season. Lastly, the lack of corporate visibility in the area may further hinder the efforts to build a home for the Chargers.

San Diego is awful when it comes to sports, both economically and fielding a competitive team. I think that's the price we pay for the beautiful weather we get year round.

I remember that game. It was won on a Fouts to Ron Smith slat pass that went for a TD. Happy Days!!!

Which part???..."If the Chargers continue their losing ways, nobody won't notice they left!!!"

I was being sarcastic. I've been in San Diego since 1976. Practically born and raised here. I love this city and it's sports. Unfortunately we have yet to see a major sports championship here.

Have you ever gone to the Hall of Champions in Balboa park? That place is awesome but lacks a major championship trophy.

Spanos has gone through 2 "GM vs Coach" battles and selected the GM on both occassions. The organization went on a downward spiral on the first (Bobby Ross) and took nearly 5-6 years to recover. Could we be headed in the same situation with the firing of Marty?

If that were so, we would kiss Gates and LT's promising careers goodbye. And Merriman would want to sign somewhere else.

Actually what he's going through is no different than what any football/baseball owner is going through in trying to get a new stadium. Hell, as storied as the 49ers are in the bay area, they can't get a new home. Cisco Systems has a huge chunk of land that it was willing to give away to build a stadium on and the city politicians couldn't take advantage of. Oh and in Los Angeles, the 2nd largest market in the US can't get.....oh nevermind!
